Salmos, 73

1. Maskil. Do Asaf, Por que razão, ó Deus, nos desamparaste para sempre? (Por que razão) se acende a tua ira contra as ovelhas do teu pasto?

1. [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.

2. Lembra-te da tua família, que fundaste desde a antiguidade, da tribo que para propriedade tua resgataste, do monte de Sião, em que estabeleceste a tua morada.

2. My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,

3. Dirige os teus passos para essas ruínas irreparáveis: o inimigo tudo devastou no santuário.

3. envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.

4. Rugiram os teus adversários no lugar da tua assembleia, arvoraram os seus estandartes como troféu.

4. For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;

5. Pareciam-se cora os que no bosque vibram o machado, (ver nota)

5. exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.

6. e com o machado e o martelo igualmente despedaçam as suas portas.

6. So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.

7. Puseram fogo ao teu santuário; na terra profanaram o tabernáculo do teu nome.

7. From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.

8. Disseram no seu coração: "Destruámo-los todos juntamente; incendiai todos os santuários de Deus na terra."

8. Cynically they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.

9. Já não vemos os nossos prodígios, já não há um profeta (que nos guie); nem há entre nós quem saiba até quando.

9. Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never still on earth.

10. Até quando, ó Deus, nos insultará o inimigo? O adversário há-de blasfemar sempre o teu nome?

10. That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,

11. Por que retraia a tua mão? Por que reténs a tua direita no teu seio?

11. saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'

12. Deus, todavia, é meu rei desde outrora, ele que opera a salvação no meio da terra.

12. That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.

13. Tu com o teu poder abriste o mar (Vermelho), pisaste as cabeças dos dragões nas águas.

13. Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?

14. Tu quebraste as cabeças do Leviatã, deste-lo por comida aos monstros marinhos.

14. When I was under a hail of blows all day long, and punished every morning,

15. Tu fizeste brotar fontes e torrentes; tu secaste os rios caudalosos.

15. had I said, 'I shall talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.

16. Teu é o dia, e tua é a noite; tu fixaste a lua e o sol.

16. So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!

17. Tu estabeleceste todos os limites da terra, o estio e o inverno, tu os formaste.

17. Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.

18. Lembra-te disto: o inimigo ultrajou-te. Senhor, e um povo insensato blasfemou do teu nome.

18. You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.

19. Não abandones ao abutre a vida da tua rola, e não esqueças para sempre as vidas dos teus pobres. (ver nota)

19. How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!

20. Olha para a tua aliança, porque todos os esconderijos do país e os campos estão cheios de violência.

20. Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.

21. Não se volte confundido o humilde: o pobre e o desvalido louvam o teu nome.

21. My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,

22. Levanta-te, ó Deus, defende a tua causa; lembra-te do ultraje que o néscio te dirige continuamente.

22. I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.

23. Não te esqueças dos gritos dos teus adversários: o tumulto dos que se insurgem contra ti aumenta continuamente.

23. Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;

24.

24. you will guide me with advice, and will draw me in the wake of your glory.

25.

25. Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.

26.

26. My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!

27.

27. Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,

28.

28. whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tell of all your works.
