Isaías, 19

1. Oráculo contra Egipto. Allá va Yahveh cabalgando sobre nube ligera y entra en Egipto, se tambalean los ídolos de Egipto ante él y el corazón de Egipto se derrite en su interior.

1. Proclamation about Egypt: Look! Yahweh, riding a swift cloud, is coming to Egypt. The false gods of Egypt totter before him and Egypt's heart quails within her.

2. Revolveré a egipcios contra egipcios, peleará cada cual con su hermano, y cada uno con su compañero, ciudad contra ciudad, reino contra reino.

2. I shall stir up Egypt against Egypt, they will fight one another, brother against brother, friend against friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

3. Se trastornará el espíritu de Egipto en su interior, y sus planes anularé. Consultarán a los ídolos, a los brujos, a los nigromantes y los adivinos.

3. Egypt's spirit will fail within her and I shall confound her deliberations. They will consult false gods and wizards, ghosts and sorcerers.

4. Entregaré a Egipto en manos de un señor duro, y un rey cruel los dominará - oráculo del Señor Yahveh Sebaot -.

4. And I shall hand Egypt over to the clutches of a cruel master, a ruthless king will rule them -- declares Yahweh Sabaoth.

5. Se desecarán las aguas del mar, y el Río se secará y quedará seco; hederán los ríos,

5. The waters will ebb from the sea, the river will dry up and run low,

6. menguarán y se secarán los canales de Egipto. La caña y el junco se marchitarán.

6. the streams will become foul, the rivers of Egypt sink and dry up. Rush and reed will turn black,

7. Los prados junto al canal, junto al borde del canal, y todo sembrado del canal se secarán, serán aventados y desaparecerán.

7. the Nile-plants on the banks of the Nile; all the vegetation of the Nile, will wither, blow away and be no more.

8. Gemirán los pescadores, y se lamentarán todos los que echan en el canal anzuelo; y los que extienden red sobre las aguas, languidecerán.

8. The fishermen will groan, it will be mourning for all who cast hook in the Nile; those who spread nets on the waters will lose heart.

9. Estarán confusos los que trabajan el lino, cardadoras y tejedores palidecerán.

9. The workers of carded flax and the weavers of white cloth will be confounded,

10. Estarán sus tejedores abatidos, todos los jornaleros desanimados.

10. the weavers dismayed, all the workmen dejected.

11. En verdad, están locos los príncipes de Soán, los sabios consejeros de Faraón forman un estúpido consejo. ¿Cómo decís a Faraón: «Hijo de sabios soy, hijo de reyes antiguos?»

11. Yes, the princes of Zoan are fools, Pharaoh's wisest councillors make up a stupid council. How dare you say to Pharaoh, 'I am descended from sages, I am descended from bygone kings'?

12. Pues entonces, ¿dónde están tus sabios? Que te manifiesten, pues, y te hagan conocer lo que ha planeado Yahveh Sebaot tocante a Egipto.

13. Han enloquecido los príncipes de Soán, han sido engañados los príncipes de Nof; los jefes de sus tribus extravían a Egipto.

13. The princes of Zoan are fools, the princes of Noph, self-deceivers, the top men of her provinces have led Egypt astray.

14. Yahveh ha infundido en ellos espíritu de vértigo que hace dar tumbos a Egipto en todas sus empresas, como se tambalea el ebrio en su vomitona.

14. Yahweh has infused them with a giddy spirit; they have led Egypt astray in all she undertakes like a drunkard straying about as he vomits.

15. Nowadays no one does for Egypt what top and tail, palm and reed used to do.

16. Aquel día será Egipto como las mujeres. Temblará y se espantará cada vez que Yahveh Sebaot menee su mano contra él.

16. That day Egypt will be like women, trembling and terrified at the threatening hand of Yahweh Sabaoth, when he raises it against her.

17. El territorio de Judá será la afrenta de Egipto: cada vez que se lo mienten, se espantará ante los planes que Yahveh Sebaot está trazando contra él.

17. The land of Judah will become Egypt's shame; whenever she is reminded of it, she will be terrified, because of the plan which Yahweh Sabaoth has laid against her.

18. Aquel día habrá cinco ciudades en tierra de Egipto que hablarán la lengua de Canaán y que jurarán por Yahveh Sebaot: Ir Haheres se llamará una de ellas.

18. That day in Egypt there will be five towns speaking the language of Canaan and pledging themselves to Yahweh Sabaoth; one of them will be called City of the Sun.

19. Aquel día habrá un altar de Yahveh en medio del país de Egipto y una estela de Yahveh junto a su frontera.

19. That day there will be an altar dedicated to Yahweh in the centre of Egypt and, close to the frontier, a pillar dedicated to Yahweh,

20. Estará como señal y testimonio de Yahveh Sebaot en el país de Egipto. Cuando clamen a Yahveh a causa de los opresores, les enviará un libertador que los defenderá y librará.

20. and this will be a sign and a witness to Yahweh Sabaoth in Egypt. When they cry to Yahweh for help because of oppressors, he will send them a Saviour and leader to deliver them.

21. Será conocido Yahveh de Egipto, y conocerá Egipto a Yahveh aquel día, le servirán con sacrificio y ofrenda, harán votos a Yahveh y los cumplirán.

21. Yahweh will reveal himself to Egypt, and the Egyptians will acknowledge Yahweh that day and will offer sacrifices and cereal offerings, and will make vows to Yahweh and perform them.

22. Yahveh herirá a Egipto, pero al punto le curará. Se convertirán a Yahveh, y él será propicio y los curará.

22. And if Yahweh strikes Egypt, having struck he will heal, and they will turn to Yahweh who will hear their prayers and heal them.

23. Aquel día habrá una calzada desde Egipto a Asiria. Vendrá Asur a Egipto y Egipto a Asiria, y Egipto servirá a Asur.

23. That day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. Assyria will have access to Egypt and Egypt have access to Assyria. Egypt will serve with Assyria.

24. Aquel día será Israel tercero con Egipto y Asur, objeto de bendición en medio de la tierra,

24. That day Israel will make a third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing at the centre of the world,

25. pues le bendecirá Yahveh Sebaot diciendo: «Bendito sea mi pueblo Egipto, la obra de mis manos Asur, y mi heredad Israel.»

25. and Yahweh Sabaoth will bless them in the words, 'Blessed be my people Egypt, Assyria my creation, and Israel my heritage.'
