Oseas, 2

1. Y los hijos de Israel serán tan numerosos como la arena del mar, que no pueden contarse ni medirse. Entonces, en vez de decirles: «Ustedes no son mi pueblo», les dirán:

1. Yet the people of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, that cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, "You are not my people," they shall be called "sons of the living God."

2. «Ustedes son los hijos del Dios vivo.» Se reunirán los hijos de Judá y los de Israel bajo un solo jefe, y desbordarán los límites del país; porque el día de Jezrael será un gran día.

2. The people of Judah and the people of Israel will be reunited, they will appoint one leader to rule over them, and they will come up out of the land. For there will be a great victory in Jezreel.

3. Ustedes llamarán a sus hermanos Mi pueblo, y a sus hermanas, Amadas.

3. You will call your brothers My-people, and your sisters My-loved-ones.

4. ¡Acusen a su madre, acúsenla, porque ella ya no es mi esposa ni yo soy su marido! Que se limpie de la infidelidad grabada en su rostro y tire afuera la impureza que se apegó a sus pechos.

4. Denounce your mother, denounce - for she is not my wife, nor am I her husband. Let her rid her face of her ornaments and her breasts of her lewd idols;

5. Porque si no, la desvestiré y la dejaré desnuda, y sin nada, como cuando nació; será entonces igual que un desierto, como tierra sin agua, y morirá de sed.

5. or I will strip her naked as on the day of her birth; I will reduce her to an arid land, making of her a desert - I will let her die of thirst.

6. Ya no querré más a sus hijos, porque son frutos de la prostitución.

6. How could I love her children? They are children of adultery;

7. Sí, puesto que su madre se ha entregado y ha perdido su decencia. Ella decía: «Déjenme partir con mis amantes, que me dan mi pan y mi agua, mi lana y mi lino, mi aceite y mis bebidas.»

7. their mother has played the harlot they are children of debauchery. She said, "I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink."

8. Por eso voy a impedir su paso con espinos, y a cercarla con una cerca para que no encuentre ya caminos.

8. With thorns, therefore, I will block her path, wall her and not let her find her way out.

9. Perseguirá a sus amantes y no los alcanzará, tratará de encontrarlos, pero en vano. Entonces se dirá: «Voy a levantarme, y volveré donde mi primer marido, pues con él me iba mejor que ahora.»

9. Pursuing her lovers, she will not overtake them; looking for her lovers, she will not find them. Then she will say, "I will go back to my husband for I was better off then than now."

10. Ella no veía que era yo el que le daba el trigo, el vino y el aceite y quien le proporcionaba en abundancia la plata y el oro que empleó para fabricar el Baal.

10. Yet she would not acknowledge that it was I who gave her the grain, the wine and the oil, and the silver and gold with which this people made their Baals.

11. Por eso vendré a recuperar mi trigo en la cosecha y mi vino nuevo en la vendimia; y le quitaré mi lana y mi lino, y todo lo que cubría su desnudez.

11. So I will take back my grain when it ripens and my new wine when it is ready; I will take back my wool and my flax which I gave to cover her nudity.

12. Dejaré desnuda su vergüenza en presencia de sus amantes, y nadie la salvará de mis manos.

12. Before her lovers I will lay bare her shame and no one can rescue her from my power.

13. Yo pondré fin a sus diversiones, a sus fiestas, lunas nuevas y sábados, a todas sus solemnidades.

13. I will bring an end to all her gladness, her monthly feasts, sabbaths and celebrations.

14. Echaré a perder su viña y sus higueras, pues ella decía : «Son mi salario, me las han dado mis amantes.» Las dejaré como terreno baldío, y se las comerán los animales.

14. I will lay waste her vines, and her fig trees, for she said, "My lovers gave them to me." I will turn them into thickets to be ravaged by wild beasts.

15. Yo le tomaré cuentas por los años de los Baales en que les ofrecía incienso y en que se ponía sus aros y collares para correr detrás de sus amantes; y se olvidaba de mí, la ingrata.

15. I will punish her for the feast days when she brought burnt offerings to the Baals, decked herself with her gaudy jewels, ran after her lovers and forgot me, says Yahweh.

16. Por eso ahora la voy a conquistar, la llevaré al desierto y allí le hablaré a su corazón.

16. So I am going to allure her, lead her once more into the desert, where I can speak to her tenderly.

17. Le devolveré sus viñas, convertiré el valle de la Mala Suerte en un lugar de esperanzas. Y allí ella me responderá como cuando era joven, como en los días en que subió de Egipto.

17. Then I will give back her vineyards, make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will answer me as in her youth, as when she came out of the land of Egypt.

18. Aquel día, dice Yavé, ya no me llamarás más «Señor mío», sino que me dirás «Marido mío».

18. On that day, Yahweh says, you will call me my husband, and never again: my Baal.

19. Sacaré de su lengua los nombres de los baales, para que ya no se acuerde de esos nombres.

19. I will take the names of Baals from her lips and no longer will they be invoked.

20. Ese día haré un pacto con las fieras salvajes, con las aves de rapiña y las serpientes de la tierra, para que no le hagan daño. Romperé el arco y la espada, alejaré de su tierra la guerra, y haré que la gente duerma segura ahí.

20. That day on her behalf I will make a covenant with beasts of the field and birds of the air, with creatures creeping upon the ground. I will wipe out the sword and war in the land; I will make people rest safe and secure.

21. Yo te desposaré para siempre. Justicia y rectitud nos unirán, junto con el amor y la ternura,

21. You will be my spouse forever, betrothed in justice and integrity; we will be united in love and tenderness.

22. Yo te desposaré con mutua fidelidad, y conocerás quién es Yavé.

22. I will espouse you in faithfulness and you will come to know Yahweh.

23. En ese día, palabra de Yavé, responderé a los cielos y ellos responderán a la tierra.

23. This is what Yahweh says of those days, "I will be at peace with the heavens, and they will respond to the earth;

24. La tierra responderá al trigo, al vino nuevo y al aceite, y éstos harán honor al nombre de Jezrael.

24. the earth will respond to the grain, wine and oil, which will come up to the expectation of Jezreel.

25. Yo sembraré para mí en el país, tendré compasión de No Amada y diré a No mi Pueblo: «Tú eres mi pueblo»; y él me contestará: «Tú eres mi Dios.»

25. I will sow them for myself in the land; I will show my love to Unloved; I will say to Not-my-people, "You are my people"; and they will answer, "You are my God."
