Oseas, 7

1. El pecado de Efraím y la malicia de Samaria han quedado de manifiesto, pues no actuaron con sinceridad. En la casa entra el ladrón, en los caminos asalta la pandilla.

1. The sin of Ephraim appears clearly; the wickedness of Samaria is obvious. They cheat one another, they break into houses while bandits raid outside.

2. Ellos no se fijan que tengo presente su maldad. Ahora mismo sus obras están delante de mí acusándolos.

2. They do not realize that I am mindful of their evil deeds. They are engulfed by their sins which are always before me.

3. Entusiasman al rey con su astucia, y a los cortesanos, con sus mentiras.

3. They amuse the king with their wickedness and the officials with their trickery.

4. Todos están ardiendo de pasión, calientes como un horno que ha dejado encendido el panadero mientras amasa y espera que la masa se levante.

4. They are and remain adulterers, like an oven heated by a baker; he has not to stir the fire from the time the dough is kneaded until it rises.

5. El día del rey los jefes se calientan y se embriagan, y él tiende su mano a los que se ríen

5. On the day of the king his officials get drunk and the king joins hands with the revelers.

6. cuando se acercan. Pero sus corazones se van enardeciendo en su conspiración como un horno; toda la noche está en calma, pero a la mañana arde como una llama de fuego.

6. In their plotting they burn like an oven; all night their anger smolders and in the morning blazes like a fire.

7. Todos se enardecen como un horno y devoran a sus gobernantes. Así han perecido todos sus reyes sin que ninguno de ellos me pidiera auxilios.

7. They are all heated like an oven and they devour their own rulers; all their kings fall but none of them calls on me for help.

8. Efraím irá a ablandarse en tierra extranjera. Efraím es una tortilla que se ha quemado por un solo lado.

8. Ephraim mixes with other nations. He is like a half-baked loaf;

9. Los extranjeros consumen sus energías sin que se dé cuenta. Su cabeza está sembrada de canas y él no lo nota.

9. the nations around him consume his strength but he is unaware of it. He has become old and he does not know it.

10. Su misma arrogancia condena a Israel, pero no se han vuelto a Yavé, su Dios, ni tratan, a pesar de todo, de buscarlo.

10. Israel's arrogance is witness against him but even so they will not turn back to Yahweh, their God, or search for him.

11. Efraím es como una paloma tonta y sin juicio, pues o bien llaman a Egipto, o bien parten a Asiria.

11. Ephraim is like a silly pigeon, now calling on Egypt, now turning to Assyria.

12. Pero adondequiera que vayan yo les pondré una trampa; los haré caer como a las aves del cielo, como una red los atraparé para su desgracia.

12. But wherever they turn I shall throw my net over them for they rebelled against me and they will fall like birds.

13. ¡Ay de ellos que se han alejado de mí! ¡Que la desgracia se los lleve, porque me han traicionado! ¿Acaso debo liberarlos, después que me han sido infieles?

13. Woe to them who fled far from me; disgrace will fall on those who deceived me. I wanted to redeem them but they spoke evil of me.

14. Se lamentan en sus lechos, pero no se acuerdan de invocarme sinceramente; se asustan porque les va a faltar el trigo o el vino, pero continuan alejados de mí.

14. They did not call on me sincerely when they groaned on their beds because of their wheat and wine and turned to me.

15. Cuando les daba la fuerza, maquinaban contra mí.

15. When I made them successful and strong, they plotted evil against me.

16. Prefieren lo que es malo y son como un arco que no apunta. Sus jefes morirán acuchillados por haber proferido tantas injurias, y en Egipto se reirán de ellos.

16. Now they turn to nothingness. They are deceptive as a twisted bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword because of their insolent talk; in the land of Egypt, people will make fun of them.
