1. El que se venga, sufrirá venganza del Señor, que cuenta exacta llevará de sus pecados.

1. Whoever exacts vengeance will experience the vengeance of the Lord, who keeps strict account of sin.

2. Perdona a tu prójimo el agravio, y, en cuanto lo pidas, te serán perdonados tus pecados.

2. Pardon your neighbour any wrongs done to you, and when you pray, your sins will be forgiven.

3. Hombre que a hombre guarda ira, ¿cómo del Señor espera curación?

3. If anyone nurses anger against another, can one then demand compassion from the Lord?

4. De un hombre como él piedad no tiene, ¡y pide perdón por sus propios pecados!

4. Showing no pity for someone like oneself, can one then plead for one's own sins?

5. El, que sólo es carne, guarda rencor, ¿quién obtendrá el perdón de sus pecados?

5. Mere creature of flesh, yet cherishing resentment!-who will forgive one for sinning?

6. Acuérdate de las postrimerías, y deja ya de odiar, recuerda la corrupción y la muerte, y sé fiel a los mandamientos.

6. Remember the last things, and stop hating, corruption and death, and be faithful to the commandments.

7. Recuerda los mandamientos, y no tengas rencor a tu prójimo, recuerda la alianza del Altísimo, y pasa por alto la ofensa.

7. Remember the commandments, and do not bear your fellow ill-will, remember the covenant of the Most High, and ignore the offence.

8. Absténte de disputas y evitarás el pecado, porque el apasionado atiza las disputas.

8. Avoid quarrelling and you will sin less; for the hot-tempered provokes quarrels,

9. El pecador enzarza a los amigos, entre los que están en paz siembra discordia.

9. a sinner sows trouble between friends, introducing discord among the peaceful.

10. Según sea la leña, así arde el fuego, según su violencia, arde la disputa; según la fuerza del hombre es su furor y conforme a su riqueza sube su ira.

10. The way a fire burns depends on its fuel, a quarrel spreads in proportion to its violence; a man's rage depends on his strength, his fury grows fiercer in proportion to his wealth.

11. Riña súbita prende fuego, disputa precipitada vierte sangre.

11. A sudden quarrel kindles fire, a hasty dispute leads to bloodshed.

12. Si soplas una chispa, prenderá, si la escupes, se apagará, y ambas cosas salen de tu boca.

12. Blow on a spark and up it flares, spit on it and out it goes; both are the effects of your mouth.

13. Al soplón de lengua doble, maldícele, que ha perdido a muchos que vivían en paz.

13. A curse on the scandal-monger and double-talker, such a person has ruined many who lived in concord.

14. A muchos sacudió la lengua triple, los dispersó de nación en nación; arrasó ciudades fuertes y derruyó casas de magnates.

14. That third tongue has shattered the peace of many and driven them from nation to nation; it has pulled down fortified cities, and overthrown the houses of the great.

15. La lengua triple repudió a mujeres varoniles, las privó del fruto de sus trabajos.

15. The third tongue has had upright wives divorced, depriving them of reward for their hard work.

16. El que la atiende no encontrará reposo, ni plantará su tienda en paz.

16. No one who listens to it will ever know peace of mind, will ever live in peace again.

17. A stroke of the whip raises a weal, but a stroke of the tongue breaks bones.

18. Muchos han caído a filo de espada, mas no tantos como los caídos por la lengua.

18. Many have fallen by the edge of the sword, but many more have fallen by the tongue.

19. Feliz el que de ella se resguarda, el que no pasa a través de su furor, el que su yugo no ha cargado, ni ha sido atado con sus coyundas.

19. Blessed is anyone who has been sheltered from it, and has not experienced its fury, who has not dragged its yoke about, or been bound in its chains;

20. Porque su yugo es yugo de hierro, y coyundas de bronce sus coyundas.

20. for its yoke is an iron yoke, its chains are bronze chains;

21. Muerte funesta la muerte que ella da, ¡el seol es preferible a ella!

23. Los que abandonan al Señor caerán en ella, en ellos arderá y no se apagará. Como un león se lanzará contra ellos, como una pantera los desgarrará.

23. Those who desert the Lord will fall into it, it will flare up inextinguishably among them, it will be let loose against them like a lion, it will tear them like a leopard.

24. Mira, cerca tu hacienda con espinos, encierra bien tu plata y tu oro.

24. Be sure you put a thorn-hedge round your property, lock away your silver and gold;

25. A tus palabras pon balanza y peso, a tu boca pon puerta y cerrojo.

25. then make scales and weights for your words, and put a door with bolts across your mouth.

26. Guárdate bien de resbalar por ella, no sea que caigas ante el que te acecha.

26. Take care you take no false step through it, in case you fall a prey to him who lies in wait.
