1. Inno. Salmo. Dei figli di Core.

1. Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,

2. Grande è il Signore e degno di ogni lode nella città del nostro Dio. Il suo santo monte,

2. beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.

3. che si eleva nella sua bellezza, è la gioia di tutta la terra: il monte Sion, l'arcana dimora del nord, la città del gran re.

3. Within her citadels God has shown himself a sure defense.

4. Dio nei suoi torrioni qual rocca si è dimostrato.

4. For lo, the kings assembled, they came on together.

5. Poiché ecco: i re si erano radunati, insieme avevano marciato;

5. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded, they were in panic, they took to flight;

6. ma appena essi videro, rimasero stupefatti, atterriti si diedero alla fuga;

6. trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in travail.

7. là il terrore li colse, uno spasimo come di partoriente,

7. By the east wind thou didst shatter the ships of Tarshish.

8. come al soffiar del vento d'oriente che sconquassa le navi di Tarsis.

8. As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God establishes for ever. [Selah]

9. Proprio come udimmo, così abbiamo visto, nella città del Signore delle schiere, nella città del nostro Dio, che Dio rende salda in eterno.

9. We have thought on thy steadfast love, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10. Celebriamo, o Dio, la tua misericordia nell'interno del tuo tempio.

10. As thy name, O God, so thy praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Thy right hand is filled with victory;

11. Come il tuo nome, o Dio, così giunge la tua lode su tutta la terra: piena di giustizia è la tua destra.

11. let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of thy judgments!

12. Si rallegri il monte Sion, esultino le figlie di Giuda a causa dei tuoi giudizi.

12. Walk about Zion, go round about her, number her towers,

13. Girate intorno a Sion e andatele attorno: enumerate le sue torri;

13. consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels; that you may tell the next generation

14. osservate le sue mura, passate in rassegna i suoi torrioni, affinché possiate riferire a quelli della generazione ventura

14. that this is God, our God for ever and ever. He will be our guide for ever.
