Psalms, 38
1. Unto the end. For Jeduthun himself. A Canticle of David.
1. Psalam. Davidov. Za spomen.
2. I said, “I will keep to my ways, so that I will not offend with my tongue.” I posted a guard at my mouth, when a sinner took up a position against me.
2. Jahve, u srdžbi svojoj nemoj ne karati, i nemoj me kazniti u svojemu gnjevu.
3. I was silenced and humbled, and I was quiet before good things, and my sorrow was renewed.
3. Strijele se tvoje u me zabodoše, ruka me tvoja teško pritisnu:
4. My heart grew hot within me, and, during my meditation, a fire would flare up.
4. na tijelu mi ništa zdravo nema zbog gnjeva tvog, od grijeha mojih mira mi nema kostima.
5. I spoke with my tongue, “O Lord, make me know my end, and what the number of my days will be, so that I may know what is lacking to me.”
5. Zloæe moje glavu su mi nadišle, kao preteško breme tište me.
6. Behold, you have made my days measurable, and, before you, my substance is as nothing. Yet truly, all things are vanity: every living man.
6. Rane moje zaudaraju i gnjiju zbog bezumnosti moje.
7. So then, truly man passes by like an image; even so, he is disquieted in vain. He stores up, and he knows not for whom he will gather these things.
7. Pogurih se sav i zgrèih, povazdan lutam žalostan.
8. And now, what is it that awaits me? Is it not the Lord? And my substance is with you.
8. Moji bokovi puni su ognjice, na tijelu mi ništa zdravo nema.
9. Rescue me from all my iniquities. You have handed me over as reproach to the foolish.
9. Iscrpljen sam i satrven posve, stenjem od jecanja srca svojega.
10. I was silenced, and I did not open my mouth, because it was you who acted.
10. O Gospode, sve su mi želje pred tobom, i vapaji moji nisu ti skriveni.
11. Remove your scourges from me.
11. Srce mi udara silno, snaga me ostavlja i svjetlost vida oèinjeg gasi se.
12. I fall short at corrections from the strength of your hand. For you have chastised man for iniquity. And you have made his soul shrink away like a spider. Nevertheless, it is in vain that any man be disquieted.
12. Prijatelji i drugovi od rana mojih uzmakoše, i moji najbliži stoje daleko.
13. O Lord, heed my prayer and my supplication. Pay attention to my tears. Do not be silent. For I am a newcomer with you, and a sojourner, just as all my fathers were.
13. Namještaju mi zamke oni koji mi život vrebaju, koji mi žele nesreæu, propašæu mi prijete i uvijek smišljaju prijevare.
14. Forgive me, so that I may be refreshed, before I will go forth and be no more.
14. A ja sam kao gluh i ništa ne èujem i, kao nijem, usta ne otvaram.

15. Postadoh k'o èovjek koji ne èuje i koji u ustima nema odgovora.
16.
16. Jer u tebe se, o Jahve, uzdam, ti æeš me uslišati, Jahve, Bože moj!
17.
17. Rekoh: "Nek' se ne raduju nada mnom; kad mi noga posrne, nek' se ne uzdižu nada mnom!"
18.
18. Jer umalo ne propadoh, i moja je bol svagda preda mnom.
19.
19. Bezakonje svoje ja priznajem i pun sam žalosti zbog grijeha svojega.
20.
20. A koji su bez razloga protiv mene, moæni su, i mnogi su koji me mrze nepravedno.
21.
21. Za dobro zlom mi uzvraæaju, protive mi se što tražim dobro.
22.
22. O Jahve, ne ostavljaj me! Bože moj, ne udaljuj se od mene!
23.
23. Požuri se meni u pomoæ, Gospode, spase moj!
