Psalms, 71

1. A psalm on Solomon.

1. In te mi rifugio, o Signore, ch'io non sia confuso in eterno!

2. Give to the king thy judgment, O God: and to the king's son thy justice: To judge thy people with justice, and thy poor with judgment.

2. Scampami nella tua giustizia e liberami, tendi verso di me il tuo orecchio e salvami.

3. Let the mountains receive peace for the people: and the hills justice.

3. Sii per me una rocca di scampo, rifugio inaccessibile per la mia salvezza. Sì, mia rupe e mia rocca tu sei!

4. He shall judge the poor of the people, and he shall save the children of the poor: and he shall humble the oppressor.

4. Mio Dio, salvami dalla mano dell'empio, dal potere del nemico e dell'oppressore.

5. And he shall continue with the sun, and before the moon, throughout all generations.

5. Poiché tu sei, o Signore, la mia speranza, la mia fiducia, o Signore, sin dalla mia giovinezza.

6. He shall come down like rain upon the fleece; and as showers falling gently upon the earth.

6. Su di te mi sono appoggiato fin dal grembo materno; dal seno di mia madre tu sei stato il mio sostegno; per te continua è stata la mia lode.

7. In his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace, till the moon be taken sway.

7. Quale spettacolo io sono apparso a molti, ma tu sei il mio rifugio sicuro.

8. And he shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

8. Si riempie la mia bocca della tua lode, tutto il giorno, della tua gloria.

9. Before him the Ethiopians shall fall down: and his enemies shall lick the ground.

9. Non mi respingere nel tempo della vecchiaia, quando vien meno il mio vigore non mi abbandonare.

10. The kings of Tharsis and the islands shall offer presents: the kings of the Arabians and of Saba shall bring gifts:

10. Infatti hanno detto di me i miei nemici, quelli che mi spiano hanno concluso insieme:

11. And all kings of the earth shall adore him: all nations shall serve him.

11. "Dio l'ha abbandonato; perseguitatelo, prendetelo, poiché non vi sarà chi lo liberi".

12. For he shall deliver the poor from the mighty: and the needy that had no helper.

12. O Dio, non ti allontanare da me; mio Dio, affréttati in mio soccorso.

13. He shall spare the poor and needy: and he shall save the souls of the poor.

13. Siano confusi, annientati quelli che accusano l'anima mia. Siano coperti di obbrobrio e d'ignominia quelli che cercano la mia sventura.

14. He shall redeem their souls from usuries and iniquity: and their names shall be honourable in his sight.

14. Ma io continuerò a sperare, intensificando in ogni maniera la mia lode per te.

15. And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Arabia, for him they shall always adore: they shall bless him all the day.

15. La mia bocca narrerà la tua giustizia, tutto il giorno, la tua salvezza, anche se incalcolabile per me.

16. And there shall be a firmament on the earth on the tops of mountains, above Libanus shall the fruit thereof be exalted : and they of the city shall flourish like the grass of the earth.

16. Verrò con le magnificenze del Signore; o Signore, farò memoria della tua giustizia, di quella sola.

17. Let his name be blessed for evermore : his name continueth before the sun. And in him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed: all nations shall magnify him.

17. O Dio, tu mi hai reso saggio fin dalla mia giovinezza e sino ad ora annunzio le tue meraviglie.

18. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone doth wonderful things.

18. Ora, nella canuta vecchiaia, o Dio, non mi abbandonare, fino a che io annunzi la potenza del tuo braccio ad ogni generazione che verrà,

19. And blessed be the name of his majesty for ever: and the whole earth shall be filled with his majesty. So be it. So be it.

19. e la tua giustizia, o Dio, fino alle stelle. Per le grandi cose che hai fatto chi è come te, o Dio?

20. The praises of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.

20. Poiché molte sventure angosciose mi hai fatto sperimentare, di nuovo mi darai vita e dagli abissi della terra di nuovo mi farai risalire.

21. Rendi più grande la tua magnificenza e di nuovo confortami.

22.

22. E io ti renderò grazie con l'arpa, per la tua fedeltà, o Dio, canterò a te sulla cetra, o Santo d'Israele.

23.

23. Grideranno di gioia le mie labbra cantando a te con la mia anima da te riscattata.

24.

24. Anche la mia lingua ogni giorno mormorerà la tua giustizia, quando saranno confusi e umiliati quelli che cercano la mia sventura.
