Ezekiel, 30

1. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

1. La parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

2. “Son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God: Wail: ‘Woe, woe to the day!’

2. Fils de l`homme, prophétise, et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Gémissez!... Malheureux jour!

3. For the day is near, and the day of the Lord is approaching! It is a day of gloom; it will be the time of the Gentiles.

3. Car le jour approche, le jour de l`Éternel approche, Jour ténébreux: ce sera le temps des nations.

4. And the sword will come to Egypt. And there will be dread in Ethiopia, when the wounded will have fallen in Egypt, and its multitude will have been taken away, and its foundations will have been destroyed.

4. L`épée fondra sur l`Égypte, Et l`épouvante sera dans l`Éthiopie, Quand les morts tomberont en Égypte, Quand on enlèvera ses richesses, Et que ses fondements seront renversés.

5. Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the rest of the common people, and Chub, and the sons of the land of the covenant, will fall with them by the sword.

5. L`Éthiopie, Puth, Lud, toute l`Arabie, Cub, Et les fils du pays allié, Tomberont avec eux par l`épée.

6. Thus says the Lord God: And those who prop up Egypt will fall, and the arrogance of its reign will be brought down. They will fall in it by the sword, before the tower of Syene, says the Lord, the God of hosts.

6. Ainsi parle l`Éternel: Ils tomberont, les soutiens de l`Égypte, Et l`orgueil de sa force périra; De Migdol à Syène ils tomberont par l`épée, Dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel.

7. And they will be scattered into the midst of desolate lands, and its cities will be in the midst of cities that have been deserted.

7. Ils seront dévastés entre les pays dévastés, Et ses villes seront entre les villes désertes.

8. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have brought a fire into Egypt, and when all its helpers will have been worn away.

8. Et ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel, Quand je mettrai le feu dans l`Égypte, Et que tous ses soutiens seront brisés.

9. In that day, messengers will go forth from my face in Greek warships, in order to crush the confidence of Ethiopia. And there will be dread among them in the day of Egypt; for without doubt, it will happen.

9. En ce jour-là, des messagers iront de ma part sur des navires Troubler l`Éthiopie dans sa sécurité; Et l`épouvante sera parmi eux au jour de l`Égypte, Car voici, ces choses arrivent!

10. Thus says the Lord God: By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, I will cause the multitude of Egypt to cease.

10. Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Je ferai disparaître la multitude de l`Égypte, Par la main de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone.

11. He, and his people with him, the strongest of the Gentiles, will be brought forth in order to destroy the land. And they will draw their swords over Egypt. And they will fill the land with the slain.

11. Lui et son peuple avec lui, Le plus violent d`entre les peuples, Seront envoyés pour détruire le pays; Ils tireront l`épée contre l`Égypte, Et rempliront le pays de morts.

12. And I will cause the channels of the rivers to dry up. And I will deliver the land into the hand of the most wicked. And by the hands of foreigners, I will utterly destroy the land and its plenitude. I, the Lord, have spoken.

12. Je mettrai les canaux à sec, Je livrerai le pays entre les mains des méchants; Je ravagerai le pays et ce qu`il renferme, par la main des étrangers. Moi, l`Éternel, j`ai parlé.

13. Thus says the Lord God: And I will destroy the graven images, and I will cause the idols of Memphis to cease. And there will no longer be a commander of the land of Egypt. And I will send terror upon the land of Egypt.

13. Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: J`anéantirai les idoles, Et j`ôterai de Noph les vains simulacres; Il n`y aura plus de prince du pays d`Égypte, Et je répandrai la terreur dans le pays d`Égypte.

14. And I will destroy the land of Pathros, and I will send a fire upon Tahpanhes, and I will execute judgments in Alexandria.

14. Je dévasterai Pathros, Je mettrai le feu à Tsoan, Et j`exercerai mes jugements sur No.

15. And I will pour out my indignation upon Pelusium, the strength of Egypt, and I will kill the multitude of Alexandria.

15. Je répandrai ma fureur sur Sin, la forteresse de l`Égypte, Et j`exterminerai la multitude de No.

16. And I will send a fire upon Egypt. Pelusium will be in pain, like a woman giving birth. And Alexandria will be utterly destroyed. And in Memphis, there will be anguish every day.

16. Je mettrai le feu dans l`Égypte; Sin sera saisie d`angoisse, No sera ouverte par la brèche, Et Noph conquise en plein jour par les ennemis.

17. The young men of Heliopolis and Pibeseth will fall by the sword, and the young women will be led into captivity.

17. Les jeunes hommes d`On et de Pi Béseth tomberont par l`épée, Et ces villes iront en captivité.

18. And in Tahpanhes, the day will grow black, when, in that place, I will break the scepters of Egypt. And the arrogance of her authority will fail within her; a gloom will cover her. Then her daughters will be led into captivity.

18. A Tachpanès le jour s`obscurcira, Quand j`y briserai le joug de l`Éternel, Et que l`orgueil de sa force y prendra fin; Un nuage couvrira Tachpanès, Et ses filles iront en captivité.

19. And I will execute judgments in Egypt. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”

19. J`exercerai mes jugements sur l`Égypte, Et ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel.

20. And it happened that, in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came, me, saying:

20. La onzième année, le septième jour du premier mois, la parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

21. “Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And behold, it has not been wrapped, so that it might be restored to health; it has not been bound with cloths, or bandaged with linen, so that, having recovered strength, it would be able to hold the sword.

21. Fils de l`homme, j`ai rompu le bras de Pharaon, roi d`Égypte; Et voici, on ne l`a point pansé pour le guérir, On ne l`a point enveloppé d`un bandage Pour le lier et le raffermir, Afin qu`il puisse manier l`épée.

22. Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and I will shatter his strong arm, which has already been broken. And I will cast the sword away from his hand.

22. C`est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Voici, j`en veux à Pharaon, roi d`Égypte, Et je lui romprai les bras, Celui qui est en bon état et celui qui est cassé. Et je ferai tomber l`épée de sa main.

23. And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands.

23. Je répandrai les Égyptiens parmi les nations, Je les disperserai en divers pays.

24. And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And I will put my sword into his hand. And I will break the arms of Pharaoh. And they will groan acutely, when they are slain before his face.

24. Je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone, Et je mettrai mon épée dans sa main; Je romprai les bras de Pharaon, Et il gémira devant lui comme gémissent les mourants.

25. And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And the arms of Pharaoh will fall. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have given my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and when he will have extended it over the land of Egypt.

25. Je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone, Et les bras de Pharaon tomberont. Et ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel, Quand je mettrai mon épée dans la main du roi de Babylone, Et qu`il la tournera contre le pays d`Égypte.

26. And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”

26. Je répandrai les Égyptiens parmi les nations, Je les disperserai en divers pays, Et ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel.
