Psalms, 5

1. Unto the end, for her that obtaineth the inheritance. A psalm of David.

1. Al maestro di coro. Al suono del flauto. Di Davide.

2. Give ear, O Lord, to my words, understand my cry.

2. Le mie parole ascolta, o Signore; comprendi il mio gemito.

3. Hearken to the voice of my prayer, O my King and my God.

3. Sii attento al grido della mia implorazione, mio re e mio Dio! Poiché a te, o Signore, rivolgo la mia preghiera.

4. For to thee will I pray: O Lord, in the morning thou shalt hear my voice.

4. Al mattino, quando odi la mia voce, al mattino espongo il mio caso e attendo.

5. In the morning I will stand before thee, and will see: because thou art not a God that willest iniquity.

5. Sì, tu non sei un Dio che si compiace del male; nessun malvagio può farsi tuo ospite;

6. Neither shall the wicked dwell near thee: nor shall the unjust abide before thy eyes.

6. non possono presentarsi i superbi davanti ai tuoi occhi; tutti hai in odio gli operatori d'iniquità.

7. Thou hatest all the workers of iniquity: Thou wilt destroy all that speak a lie. The bloody and the deceitful man the Lord will abhor.

7. Tu mandi in rovina quelli che dicono menzogne. L'uomo di sangue e di frode l'avversa il Signore.

8. But as for me in the multitude of thy mercy, I will come into thy house; I will worship towards thy holy temple, in thy fear.

8. Ma io, nella tua grande misericordia, posso entrare nella tua casa e prostrarmi verso il santo tuo tempio, nel tuo timore.

9. Conduct me, O Lord, in thy justice: because of my enemies, direct my way in thy sight.

9. Conducimi, o Signore, nella tua giustizia contro quelli che mi tendono insidie; appiana davanti a me la tua via.

10. for there is no truth in their mouth; their heart is vain.

10. Sì, non c'è fermezza nella loro bocca: un baratro è il loro interno; sepolcro aperto è la loro gola; seminano rovina con le loro lingue.

11. Their throat is an open sepulchre: they dealt deceitfully with their tongues: judge them, O God. Let them fall from their devices: according to the multitude of their wickedness cast them out: for they have provoked thee, O Lord.

11. Falli perire, o Dio; rimangano delusi dai loro consigli; per i loro crimini senza numero disperdili, perché contro di te si sono ribellati.

12. But let all them be glad that hope in thee: they shall rejoice for ever, and thou shalt dwell in them. And all they that love thy name shall glory in thee:

12. Ma gioiscano quanti in te si rifugiano; eterna sia la loro esultanza; e tu proteggili, affinché si allietino in te quanti amano il tuo nome.

13. For thou wilt bless the just. O Lord, thou hast crowned us, as with a shield of thy good will.

13. Sì, tu benedici il giusto, o Signore; come uno scudo, di grazia lo circondi.
