2. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

2. From Zion the Lord will extend your mighty scepter and you will rule in the midst of your enemies.

3. Thy people [shall be] willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

3. Yours is royal dignity from the day you were born in holy majesty. Like dew from the womb of the dawn, I have begotten you.

4. The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou [art] a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

4. The Lord has sworn, and he will not take back his word: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."

5. The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

5. The Lord is at your right hand to crush the kings on his day of wrath.

6. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill [the places] with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

6. He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses, smashing heads on the wide plain.

7. He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

7. He has lapped up the water from the brook, this is why he will lift up his head.
