Psalms, 32

1. <[A Psalm] of David, Maschil.> Blessed [is he whose] transgression [is] forgiven, [whose] sin [is] covered.

1. Blessed is the one whose sin is forgiven, whose iniquity is wiped away.

2. Blessed [is] the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit [there is] no guile.

2. Blessed are those in whom the Lord sees no guilt and in whose spirit is found no deceit.

3. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

3. When I kept my sin secret, my body wasted away, I was moaning all day long.

4. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

5. Then I made known to you my sin and uncovered before you my fault, saying to myself, "To the Lord I will now confess my wrong." And you, you forgave my sin, you removed my guilt.

6. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

6. So let the faithful ones pray to you in time of distress; the overflowing waters will not reach them.

7. Thou [art] my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

7. You are my refuge; you protect me from distress and surround me with songs of deliverance.

8. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

8. I will teach you, I will show you the way to follow. I will watch over you and give you counsel.

9. Be ye not as the horse, [or] as the mule, [which] have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

9. Do not be like the horse or the mule - senseless and led by bit and bridle.

10. Many sorrows [shall be] to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

10. Many woes befall the wicked, but the Lord's mercy enfolds those who trust in him.

11. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all [ye that are] upright in heart.

11. Rejoice in the Lord, and be glad, you who are upright; sing and shout for joy, you who are clean of heart.
