4. You have laid down precepts to be obeyed.
5. O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
5. O, that my ways were steadfast in observing your statutes!
6. Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
6. Then I would not be put to disgrace, having paid attention to all your decrees.
7. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
7. I will praise you with an upright spirit when I learn your just precepts by heart.
8. I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
8. I mean to observe your commandments. O, never abandon me.
9. BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed [thereto] according to thy word.

10. I seek you with my whole heart; let me not stray from your commands.

18. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
18. Open my eyes that I may see the marvelous truths in your law.
19. I [am] a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
19. Do not hide your commandments from me, a wanderer on earth.
20. My soul breaketh for the longing [that it hath] unto thy judgments at all times.
20. My soul is consumed with desire for your ordinances at all times.
21. Thou hast rebuked the proud [that are] cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
21. You reprove the accursed ones who stray arrogantly from your commands.
22. Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
22. Remove from me their scorn and contempt, since I have followed your precepts.
23. Princes also did sit [and] speak against me: [but] thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
23. Although princes conspire against me, your servant will observe your decrees.
24. Thy testimonies also [are] my delight [and] my counsellors.
24. Your laws are my delight, my counselors who uphold me.
25. DALETH. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
25. In the dust I lie prostrate; lift me up, as promised by your word.
26. I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
26. When I explained my ways, you responded; instruct me then in your precepts.

32. I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
32. I will run in the way of your commands, for you have freed my heart.

40. Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.
40. Oh, how I long for your precepts! Renew my life in your righteousness.
41. VAU. Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, [even] thy salvation, according to thy word.
41. Give me your unfailing love, O Lord, your salvation as you have promised.
42. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
42. Strengthened by my trust in your word, I can answer my enemy's reproach.
43. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
43. Take not the word of truth from my mouth, for I would also lose my hope in your word.
44. So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
44. May I always keep your word for ever and ever;
45. And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
45. I shall walk in freedom, having sought out your laws.
46. I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

50. My consolation in suffering is this: that your promise renews my life.
51. The proud have had me greatly in derision: [yet] have I not declined from thy law.
51. Although the arrogant mock me without end, I faithfully cling to your word.
52. I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
52. When I remember your ordinances of old, I find comfort in them, O Lord.
53. Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
53. I feel indignant at the wicked who have forsaken your law.
54. Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
54. Your decrees are the theme of my song, in this my place of exile.
55. I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.
55. Each night I call on your name, O Lord, and renew my vow to keep your word.

72. The law of thy mouth [is] better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
72. Your law is more precious to me than heaps of silver and gold.
73. JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
73. Give me insight to know your commands, since I have been formed by your hands.
74. They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.
74. Those who fear you will be glad, seeing that I hope in your word.
75. I know, O LORD, that thy judgments [are] right, and [that] thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
75. I know, O Lord, that your laws are just, and there is justice in my affliction.
76. Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.

81. CAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation: [but] I hope in thy word.
81. My soul longs for your protection; your word is my hope of salvation.
82. Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
82. I have kept watch for your promise. "When will you comfort me?" I ask.
83. For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; [yet] do I not forget thy statutes.
83. I have become as dry as a wineskin, yet I have not forgotten your statutes.
84. How many [are] the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
84. How long must your servant endure? When will you judge my persecutors?
85. The proud have digged pits for me, which [are] not after thy law.
85. The arrogant have dug pitfalls for me in defiance of your law.
86. All thy commandments [are] faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
86. Your law indeed is trustworthy, when they persecute me, help me.
