1. <[A Psalm] of David.> I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

1. I thank you, O Lord, with all my heart, for you have heard the word of my lips. I sing your praise in the presence of the gods.

2. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

2. I bow down towards your holy temple and give thanks to your name, for your love and faithfulness, for your word which exceeds everything.

3. In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, [and] strengthenedst me [with] strength in my soul.

3. You answered me when I called; you restored my soul and made me strong.

4. All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

4. O Lord, all kings on earth will give you praise, when they have heard your words.

5. Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great [is] the glory of the LORD.

5. They will celebrate the ways of the Lord, "great is the glory of the Lord!"

6. Though the LORD [be] high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

6. From above, the Lord watches over the lowly; from afar, he marks down the haughty.

7. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

7. If I walk in the midst of trouble, you give me life. With outstretched arm, you save me from the wrath of my foes, with your right hand you deliver me.

8. The LORD will perfect [that which] concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, [endureth] for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

8. How the Lord cares for me! Your kindness, O Lord, endures forever. Forsake not the work of your hands.
