Jéremie, 45

1. La parole que Jérémie, le prophète, dit à Baruch, fils de Nérias, lorsqu'il écrivit dans une livre les paroles que Jérémie lui dicta, la quatrième année de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda. Il dit:

1. This is the message that the prophet Jeremiah gave to Baruch, son of Neriah, when he wrote in a book the prophecies that Jeremiah dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah:

2. "Yahweh, roi d'Israël, parle ainsi sur toi, Baruch:

2. Thus says the LORD, God of Israel, to you, Baruch,

3. Tu dis: Malheur à moi! car Yahweh ajoute à mon chagrin la douleur; je m'épuise dans mon gémissement, et je ne trouve point le repos.

3. because you said, "Alas! the LORD adds grief to my pain; I am weary from groaning, and can find no rest":

4. Tu lui diras donc: Ainsi parle Yahweh: ce que j'avais bâti, je le détruis; ce que j'avais planté, je l'arrache, et toute cette terre.

4. say this to him, says the LORD: What I have built, I am tearing down; what I have planted, I am uprooting: even the whole land.

5. Et toi, tu chercherais pour toi de grandes choses! Ne les cherche point; car je vais amener le malheur sur toute chair, dit Yahweh; mais je te donnerai la vie pour butin dans tous les lieux où tu iras."

5. And do you seek great things for yourself? Seek them not! I am bringing evil on all mankind, says the LORD, but your life I will leave you as booty, wherever you may go.
