Jéremie, 33

1. La. parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie une seconde fois, lorsqu'il était encore enfermé dans la cour des gardes, en ces termes :

1. The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time while he was still imprisoned in the quarters of the guard:

2. Ainsi parle Yahweh qui fait cela, Yahweh qui le conçoit pour l'exécuter; Yahweh est son nom:

2. Thus says the LORD who made the earth and gave it form and firmness, whose name is LORD:

3. Invoque-moi et je te répondrai; Je te manifesterai des choses grandes et inaccessibles, Que tu ne sais pas.

3. Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell to you things great beyond reach of your knowledge.

4. Car ainsi parle Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël, Au sujet des maisons de cette ville Et des maisons du roi de Juda Qu'on a abattues pour faire face aux machines de guerre et à l'épée de l'ennemi,

4. Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the palaces of Judah's kings, which are being destroyed in the face of siegeworks and the sword:

5. Et au sujet de ceux qui vont combattre les Chaldéens, Pour remplir ces maisons des cadavres des hommes Que je frappe dans ma colère et dans mon indignation, Et à cause de la méchanceté desquels je cache ma face ci cette ville:

5. men come to battle the Chaldeans, and these houses will be filled with the corpses of those whom I slay in my anger and wrath, when I hide my face from this city for all their wickedness.

6. Je lui appliquerai un pansement pour la guérir; Je les guérirai et je leur ferai voir une abondance de paix et de vérité,

6. Behold, I will treat and assuage the city's wounds; I will heal them, and reveal to them an abundance of lasting peace.

7. Je ramènerai les exilés de Juda et les exilés d'Israël, Et je les rétablirai comme ils étaient autrefois.

7. I will change the lot of Judah and the lot of Israel, and rebuild them as of old.

8. Je les purifierai de toute leur iniquité. Par laquelle ils ont péché contre moi; Je leur pardonnerai toutes leurs iniquités par lesquelles ils m'ont offensé, Par lesquelles ils se sont révoltés contre moi.

8. I will cleanse them of all the guilt they incurred by sinning against me; all their offenses by which they sinned and rebelled against me, I will forgive.

9. Et le nom de cette ville sera pour moi Un nom de joie, de louange et de gloire Parmi toutes les nations de la terre Qui apprendront tout le bien que je leur ferai; Elles seront effrayées et frémiront En voyant tout le bonheur et la prospérité que je leur donnerai.

9. Then Jerusalem shall be my joy, my praise, my glory, before all the nations of the earth, as they hear of all the good I will do among them. They shall be in fear and trembling over all the peaceful benefits I will give her.

10. Ainsi parle Yahweh: Dans ce lieu dont vous dites: "C'est un désert Où il n'y a plus ni homme ni bête"; Dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem Qui sont désolées, sans hommes, ni habitants, ni bétail,

10. Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, "How desolate it is, without man, without beast!" and in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are now deserted, without man, without citizen, without beast, there shall yet be heard

11. On entendra encore les cris de joie et les cris d'allégresse, Le chant du fiancé et le chant de la fiancée, La voix de ceux qui disent: "Louez Yahweh des armées, Car Yahweh est bon, et sa miséricorde dure à jamais!" Qui viennent offrir les sacrifices d'actions de grâces Dans la maison de Yahweh; Car je ferai revenir les exilés de ce pays, Pour qu'ils soient comme autrefois.

11. the cry of joy, the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, the voice of the bride, the sound of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, singing, "Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good; his mercy endures forever." For I will restore this country as of old, says the LORD.

12. Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Dans ce pays qui est désert, sans homme, ni bête. Et dans toutes ses villes, Il y aura encore des pacages Où les bergers feront reposer leurs troupeaux;

12. Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place, now desolate, without man or beast, and in all its cities there shall again be sheepfolds for the shepherds to couch their flocks.

13. Dans les villes de la montagne, Dans les villes de la plaine Et dans les villes du midi, Dans le pays de Benjamin, Dans les environs de Jérusalem Et dans les villes de Juda, Les troupeaux passeront encore Sous la main de celui qui les compte, dit Yahweh.

13. In the cities of the hill country, of the foothills, and of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin and the suburbs of Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.

14. Voici que des jours viennent, dit Yahweh, Où j' accomplirai la bonne parole Que j'ai dite au sujet de la maison d'Israël et de la maison de Juda.

14. The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah.

15. En ce jour-là et en ce temps-là, Je ferai germer à David un germe juste, Qui exercera le droit et la justice dans le pays.

15. In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he shall do what is right and just in the land.

16. En ces jours-là, Juda sera sauvé Et Jérusalem habitera en assurance, Et on l'appellera Yahweh notre justice,

16. In those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure; this is what they shall call her: "The LORD our justice."

17. Car ainsi parle Yahweh: Il ne manquera jamais à David de descendant Assis sur le trône de la maison d'Israël,

17. For thus says the LORD: Never shall David lack a successor on the throne of the house of Israel,

18. Et parmi les prêtres lévites, Il ne manquera jamais devant moi d'homme Pour offrir l'holocauste, pour allumer l'oblation Et faire le sacrifice tous les jours.

18. nor shall priests of Levi ever be lacking, to offer holocausts before me, to burn cereal offerings, and to sacrifice victims.This word of the LORD also came to Jeremiah:

19. La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes:

19. Thus says the LORD:

20. Ainsi parle Yahweh:Si vous pouvez rompre mon alliance avec le jour, Et mon alliance avec la nuit,-En sorte que le jour et la nuit ne soient plus en leur temps,

20. If you can break my covenant with day, and my covenant with night, so that day and night no longer alternate in sequence,

21. Alors aussi mon alliance sera rompue avec David mon serviteur, -En sorte qu'il n'ait plus de fils qui règne sur son trône, Et avec les lévites prêtres qui font mon service.

21. then can my covenant with my servant David also be broken, so that he will not have a son to be king upon his throne, and my covenant with the priests of Levi who minister to me.

22. Comme l'armée des cieux ne se compte pas, Et que le sable de la mer ne se mesure pas, Ainsi je multiplierai la race de David, mon serviteur, Et les lévites qui font mon service.

22. Like the host of heaven which cannot be numbered, and the sands of the sea which cannot be counted, I will multiply the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister to me.

23. La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes

23. This word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:

24. N'as-tu pas vu ce peuple dire: "Yahweh a rejeté les deux familles qu'il avait choisies!" Ainsi ils méprisent mon peuple, Au point de ne plus le regarder comme une nation!

24. Have you not noticed what these people are saying: "The LORD has rejected the two tribes which he had chosen"? They spurn my people as if it were no longer a nation in their eyes.

25. Ainsi parle Yahweh:Si je n'ai pas établi mon alliance avec le jour et la nuit, Et si je n'ai pas posé les lois du ciel et de la terre,

25. Thus says the LORD: When I have no covenant with day and night, and have given no laws to heaven and earth,

26. Je rejetterai aussi la postérité de Jacob et de David mon serviteur, Pour ne plus prendre dans sa postérité, Ceux qui domineront sur la race d'Abraham, d'Isaac et de Jacob; Car je ferai revenir les captifs et j'aurai compassion d'eux.

26. then too will I reject the descendants of Jacob and of my servant David, so as not to take from his descendants rulers for the race of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will change their lot and show them mercy.
