Job, 36

1. Elihú prosiguió diciendo:

1. Elihu also proceeded, and said,

2. «Espera un poco y yo te instruiré, pues tengo más que decir en favor de Dios.

2. Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that [I have] yet to speak on God's behalf.

3. Voy a llevar muy lejos mi saber y daré la razón a mi Hacedor.

3. I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

4. En verdad no hay mentiras en mis palabras, pues el que te enseña es hombre de mucha experiencia.

4. For truly my words [shall] not [be] false: he that is perfect in knowledge [is] with thee.

5. Sabes queDios es muy fuerte, pero no rechaza al hombre de limpio corazón.

5. Behold, God [is] mighty, and despiseth not [any: he is] mighty in strength [and] wisdom.

6. No deja vivir al malvado a sus anchas, sino que hace justicia a los desvalidos:

6. He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

7. no aparta su mirada de los justos. Si pone en el trono a los reyes, es para que perdure su reinado; pero si se dejan dominar por la soberbia,

7. He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings [are they] on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

8. entonces se ven cargados de cadenas amarrados con cuerdas de aflicción.

8. And if [they be] bound in fetters, [and] be holden in cords of affliction;

9. Después les muestra cómo ha sido su conducta y sus faltas nacidas de su orgullo.

9. Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

10. Les llama la atención al oído, y los manda apartarse del mal.

10. He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

11. Si escuchan ylo sirven, acabarán felices sus días, y sus años, con toda tranquilidad.

11. If they obey and serve [him], they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

12. Pero si no lo escuchan, les quitará la vida de un golpe y morirán por no haber entendido.

12. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

13. Son hombres desleales que se rebelan en vez de suplicarlo cuando los encadena,

13. But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

14. mueren en plena juventud y su vida acaba despreciada.

14. They die in youth, and their life [is] among the unclean.

15. Dios salva al miserable por su misma pobreza. y le enseña por medio del sufrimiento.

15. He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

16. También a ti te librará de la angustia. una abundancia sin límites la reemplazará, y tu mesa rebosará de sabrosos manjares.

16. Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait [into] a broad place, where [there is] no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table [should be] full of fatness.

17. Entonces enjuiciarás al malvado justicia y derecho estarán en tus manos.

17. But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold [on thee].

18. No te dejes, pues, llevar por la ira ni te dejes comprar por los regalos.

18. Because [there is] wrath, [beware] lest he take thee away with [his] stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

19. Pide cuentas tanto al rico como al que nada tiene, al débil como al poderoso.

19. Will he esteem thy riches? [no], not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

20. No aplastes a aquellos que te son extraños, para poner en su lugar a tus parientes;

20. Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.

21. guárdate de inclinarte hacia la injusticia, pues ésta fue la causa de tu prueba.

21. Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

22. Mira, Dios es sublime en su fuerza, ¿qué maestro puede comparársele?

22. Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?

23. ¿Quién le pedirá cuentas por l o que hace? ¿Quién lo dirá: «Has actuado mal?»

23. Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

24. Acuérdate, pues, de ensalzar su obra, después que tantos hombres la alabaron.

24. Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

25. Todo humano la contempla, todo mortal la mira desde lejos.

25. Every man may see it; man may behold [it] afar off.

26. Dios es grande y no sabemos cuánto, el número de sus años es incalculable.

26. Behold, God [is] great, and we know [him] not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

27. El atrae las gotas de agua, los vapores que se transformarán en lluvia.

27. For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:

28. Las nubes la derramarán y la repartirán en el mundo de los hombres.

28. Which the clouds do drop [and] distil upon man abundantly.

29. ¿Quién puede comprender el despliegue de las nubes y el trueno que en su morada retumba?

29. Also can [any] understand the spreadings of the clouds, [or] the noise of his tabernacle?

30. Vean cómo extiende sus vapores y cubre las profundidades de los mares.

30. Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

31. Con esto, alimenta a los pueblos y les proporciona abundante comida.

31. For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.

32. En sus manos ha alzado el rayo y le ordena dar en el blanco.

32. With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it [not to shine] by [the cloud] that cometh betwixt.

33. Su trueno lo anuncia a los pastores, y los rebaños sienten la tempestad inminente.

33. The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
