Job, 26

1. Job respondió con estas palabras:

1. But Job answered and said,

2. «¡Qué bien sabes ayudar al débil y socorrer al inválido!

2. How hast thou helped [him that is] without power? [how] savest thou the arm [that hath] no strength?

3. ¡Qué buenos consejos das al ignorante, qué profundo conocimiento has demostrado!

3. How hast thou counselled [him that hath] no wisdom? and [how] hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

4. Pero ¿a quién van dirigidas tus palabras y quién te las inspiró?»

4. To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

5. Las sombras tiemblan debajo de la tierra, las aguas y sus habitantes se estremecen.

5. Dead [things] are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

6. El reino de la muerte no le está oculto, el lugar de los muertos está descubierto ante él.

6. Hell [is] naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

7. El extiende el norte sobre el vacío, suspende la tierra sobre la nada.

7. He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, [and] hangeth the earth upon nothing.

8. Encierra la lluvia en los nubarrones y la nube no se rasga con el peso.

8. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

9. El cubre la cara de la luna llena y le da por velo sus nubes,

9. He holdeth back the face of his throne, [and] spreadeth his cloud upon it.

10. encierra las aguas en el cerco del horizonte, que es el límite de la luz con las tinieblas.

10. He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

11. Las columnas del cielo se tambalean y se llenan de miedo cuando amenaza.

11. The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

12. Con su poder dividió el mar y con su inteligencia aplastó a Rahab.

12. He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

13. Su soplo ha despejado los cielos, su mano traspasó la Serpiente huidiza.

13. By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

14. Esto es sólo el exterior de sus obras, sus ecos tan sólo percibimos. ¿Quién podrá comprender su trueno poderoso?»

14. Lo, these [are] parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
