Psalm 2 is a messianic psalm that talks about the reign of the Messiah about all nations and the rejection of the rulers of the earth to him. The verses selected below highlight the authority and power of the Messiah, their relationship with God and the reaction of nations to their sovereignty.
Isaiah 9:6-7: "For a boy was born to us, a son has given us; and the government is upon his shoulders; and his name will be a wonderful counselor, the strong God, the father of eternity, prince of peace. Acts 4:25-26-"Through the mouth of David, your servant, have you said, Why do the Gentiles brate, and the peoples think of vain things? " This excerpt of Acts quotes Psalm 2 and highlights the idea that the kings and rulers of the earth oppose God and their anointed. He shows that this opposition is a present reality in both the old and the New Testament.
