Isaiah 34 describes God's judgment on nations, especially Edom, because of his rebellion against him. The chapter emphasizes the total destruction and the desolation that will come over these wicked nations as a result of divine justice. Jeremiah 49:17: "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will cut Babylon and make it an object of astonishment and derision; empty will be forever." This verse talks about the fall of Babylon, one of the nations that received God's judgment.
Naum 1:8: "With a flood that will pass, he will end her place; darkness will persecute her enemies." Naum prophesies the destruction of Nineveh, an wicked city that was judged by God because of his cruelty and sin.
Ezekiel 25:13: "Therefore, the Lord God says, I will also extend my hand over Edom, and take men and animals from Him; and I will become desert; Ezekiel prophesies the destruction of Edom, a neighboring nation of Israel who rebelled against God and was judged by him.
Joel 3:19: "Egypt will become in desolation, and Edom in a deserted desert, because of violence against the children of Judah, whose blood has poured into his land." Joel prophesies the destruction of Edom because of his violence against the children of Judah.
Amos 1:11: "Thus saith the Lord, by three transgressions of Edom, and for four I will not remove the punishment, because he persecuted with sword to his brother, and violated his bowels; your outrage forever. " Amos denounces Edom for his cruelty and violence against the people of Israel, and prophesies that God will judge them for their sins.
