Joel, 4

1. En aquellos días traeré de vuelta a los cautivos de Judá y de Jerusalén.

1. In those days and at that time when I reestablish Judah and Jerusalem,

2. Reuniré todas las naciones y las haré descender al valle de Josafat. Allí discutiré con ellas la causa de mi pueblo y de mi heredad, Israel, a quien ellas han dispersado entre las naciones, mientras se repartían mi tierra.

2. I shall let all the nations gather together and come to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I shall uphold against them the cause of Israel, my people and my heritage. For they have dispersed them among the nations and divided my land.

3. Se jugaron a los dados a mi pueblo; cambiaron al niño por la prostituta y a la niña la vendieron por vino para emborracharse.

3. They cast lots for my people; they gave a boy for a harlot, and a girl for the wine they drank.

4. Y ustedes, ¿qué son ustedes para mí, Tiro y Sidón y todos los distritos de Filistea? ¿Tomarán acaso represalias contra mí? Si las quieren tomar, bien pronto volveré estas represalias sobre su propia cabeza.

4. And you Tyre and Sidon, and all the districts of Philistia, what are you for me? Will you take revenge on me? If you want to do that, swiftly and immediately will I take reprisals against you!

5. Ustedes que robaron mi plata y mi oro y se llevaron mis más hermosas joyas a sus templos

5. You who carried off my silver and gold and my finest jewelry to your temples!

6. y vendieron los hijos de Judá y los hijos de Israel a los griegos, alejándolos de su tierra,

6. You sold to the Greeks the people of Judah and Jerusalem removing them far away from their own land.

7. sepan que yo los voy a despertar del lugar donde ustedes los vendieron y haré caer las represalias de ustedes sobre sus cabezas.

7. But now I am going to summon them from wherever you sold them, and I will return your deed on your head.

8. Venderé a los hijos e hijas de ustedes por medio de los hijos de Judá, que los venderán a los sabeos, nación lejana. Yavé lo ha dicho.

8. Yahweh says: I will sell your sons and daughters to the Judeans who will then sell them to the Sabaeans in a distant land.

9. Publiquen esto entre las naciones, proclamen una guerra santa, despierten a los valientes, avancen y suban todos los hombres de guerra.

9. Make this known among the nations, proclaim the holy war, call the warriors, let men of war advance!

10. Conviertan sus azadones en espadas y sus hoces en lanzas, que el débil diga: «Soy un valiente».

10. Hammer your plowshares into swords, your sickles into spears! Let the weak say: I am a warrior! And the meek: I too will fight!

11. Dense prisa y lleguen pronto, todas las naciones de alrededor, reúnanse allí. ¡Haz bajar, Yavé, a tus valientes!

11. Come quickly, neighboring nations, and assemble!

12. Que despierten y suban las naciones al valle de Josafat, porque allí me sentaré para juzgar a todas las naciones de alrededor.

12. Rise up, O peoples, and come to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, nations.

13. Metan la hoz, pues los sembrados están maduros, vengan y pisen, porque el lagar está lleno y las cubas desbordan, ¡tan grande es su maldad!

13. Bring a sickle for the harvest is ripe; come and tread for the winepress is full and the vats overflow, so great is their wickedness!

14. Multitudes y multitudes en el Valle de la Decisión, porque está cerca el día de Yavé en el Valle de la Decisión.

14. Multitudes and more multitudes in the Valley of Verdict! The day of Yahweh is near in the Valley of Verdict!

15. El sol y la luna se oscurecieron y las estrellas retiraron su resplandor.

15. The sun and the moon become dark, the stars lose their radiance.

16. Yavé ruge desde Sión y desde Jerusalén hace oír su voz. Los cielos y la tierra se han conmovido. Porque Yavé es un refugio para su pueblo y un asilo para los hijos de Israel.

16. Yahweh roars from Zion and raises his voice from Jerusalem; heaven and earth are shaken. Indeed Yahweh is a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the sons of Israel.

17. Y sabrán que yo soy Yavé, su Dios, que habito en Sión, mi monte santo, y Jerusalén será un lugar santo por el que no pasará extranjero.

17. You will know that I am Yahweh, your God, dwelling on Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be a holy place, and foreigners will never pass through there again.

18. En aquellos días los montes destilarán vino, y de las colinas manará leche; en todos los torrentes de Judá correrá el agua y una fuente saldrá de la Casa de Yavé para regar el valle de las acacias.

18. On that day the mountains shall drip wine and the hills flow with milk; all the streams of Judah will run with water and a fountain will spring from the House of Yahweh, and water the valley of Shittim.

19. Egipto quedará todo en ruinas y Edom en un desierto desolado, por la violencia que cometieron contra los hijos de Judá, porque derramaron sangre inocente en su tierra.

19. On the other hand, Egypt will be devastated and Edom will become a deserted wasteland because they committed violence against Judah, and shed innocent blood in their country.

20. Pero Judá será habitado para siempre, y Jerusalén, de generación en generación. No me quedaré indiferente sino que vengaré la sangre, pues sepan queYavé habita en Sión.»

20. But Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem through all generations.

21. And I shall avenge their blood and not leave it unpunished, for Yahweh dwells in Zion.
