Revelation, 21

1. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea.

1. Dann sah ich einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde; denn der erste Himmel und die erste Erde sind vergangen, auch das Meer ist nicht mehr.

2. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride dressed for her husband.

2. Ich sah die heilige Stadt, das neue Jerusalem, von Gott her aus dem Himmel herabkommen; sie war bereit wie eine Braut, die sich für ihren Mann geschmückt hat.

3. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, 'Look, here God lives among human beings. He will make his home among them; they will be his people, and he will be their God, God-with-them.

3. Da hörte ich eine laute Stimme vom Thron her rufen: Seht, die Wohnung Gottes unter den Menschen! Er wird in ihrer Mitte wohnen, und sie werden sein Volk sein; und er, Gott, wird bei ihnen sein.

4. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness or pain. The world of the past has gone.'

4. Er wird alle Tränen von ihren Augen abwischen: Der Tod wird nicht mehr sein, keine Trauer, keine Klage, keine Mühsal. Denn was früher war, ist vergangen.

5. Then the One sitting on the throne spoke. 'Look, I am making the whole of creation new. Write this, "What I am saying is trustworthy and will come true."

5. Er, der auf dem Thron saß, sprach: Seht, ich mache alles neu. Und er sagte: Schreib es auf, denn diese Worte sind zuverlässig und wahr.

6. Then he said to me, 'It has already happened. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water from the well of life free to anybody who is thirsty;

6. Er sagte zu mir: Sie sind in Erfüllung gegangen. Ich bin das Alpha und das Omega, der Anfang und das Ende. Wer durstig ist, den werde ich umsonst aus der Quelle trinken lassen, aus der das Wasser des Lebens strömt.

7. anyone who proves victorious will inherit these things; and I will be his God and he will be my son.

7. Wer siegt, wird dies als Anteil erhalten: Ich werde sein Gott sein und er wird mein Sohn sein.

8. But the legacy for cowards, for those who break their word, or worship obscenities, for murderers and the sexually immoral, and for sorcerers, worshippers of false gods or any other sort of liars, is the second death in the burning lake of sulphur.'

8. Aber die Feiglinge und Treulosen, die Befleckten, die Mörder und Unzüchtigen, die Zauberer, Götzendiener und alle Lügner - ihr Los wird der See von brennendem Schwefel sein. Dies ist der zweite Tod.

9. One of the seven angels that had the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came to speak to me and said, 'Come here and I will show you the bride that the Lamb has married.'

9. Und es kam einer von den sieben Engeln, die die sieben Schalen mit den sieben letzten Plagen getragen hatten. Er sagte zu mir: Komm, ich will dir die Braut zeigen, die Frau des Lammes.

10. In the spirit, he carried me to the top of a very high mountain, and showed me Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down out of heaven from God.

10. Da entrückte er mich in der Verzückung auf einen großen, hohen Berg und zeigte mir die heilige Stadt Jerusalem, wie sie von Gott her aus dem Himmel herabkam,

11. It had all the glory of God and glittered like some precious jewel of crystal-clear diamond.

11. erfüllt von der Herrlichkeit Gottes. Sie glänzte wie ein kostbarer Edelstein, wie ein kristallklarer Jaspis.

12. Its wall was of a great height and had twelve gates; at each of the twelve gates there was an angel, and over the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel;

12. Die Stadt hat eine große und hohe Mauer mit zwölf Toren und zwölf Engeln darauf. Auf die Tore sind Namen geschrieben: die Namen der zwölf Stämme der Söhne Israels.

13. on the east there were three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.

13. Im Osten hat die Stadt drei Tore und im Norden drei Tore und im Süden drei Tore und im Westen drei Tore.

14. The city walls stood on twelve foundation stones, each one of which bore the name of one of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

14. Die Mauer der Stadt hat zwölf Grundsteine; auf ihnen stehen die zwölf Namen der zwölf Apostel des Lammes.

15. The angel that was speaking to me was carrying a gold measuring rod to measure the city and its gates and wall.

15. Und der Engel, der zu mir sprach, hatte einen goldenen Messstab, mit dem die Stadt, ihre Tore und ihre Mauer gemessen wurden.

16. The plan of the city is perfectly square, its length the same as its breadth. He measured the city with his rod and it was twelve thousand furlongs, equal in length and in breadth, and equal in height.

16. Die Stadt war viereckig angelegt und ebenso lang wie breit. Er maß die Stadt mit dem Messstab; ihre Länge, Breite und Höhe sind gleich: zwölftausend Stadien.

17. He measured its wall, and this was a hundred and forty-four cubits high -- by human measurements.

17. Und er maß ihre Mauer; sie ist hundertvierundvierzig Ellen hoch nach Menschenmaß, das der Engel benutzt hatte.

18. The wall was built of diamond, and the city of pure gold, like clear glass.

18. Ihre Mauer ist aus Jaspis gebaut und die Stadt ist aus reinem Gold, wie aus reinem Glas.

19. The foundations of the city wall were faced with all kinds of precious stone: the first with diamond, the second lapis lazuli, the third turquoise, the fourth crystal,

19. Die Grundsteine der Stadtmauer sind mit edlen Steinen aller Art geschmückt; der erste Grundstein ist ein Jaspis, der zweite ein Saphir, der dritte ein Chalzedon, der vierte ein Smaragd,

20. the fifth agate, the sixth ruby, the seventh gold quartz, the eighth malachite, the ninth topaz, the tenth emerald, the eleventh sapphire and the twelfth amethyst.

20. der fünfte ein Sardonyx, der sechste ein Sardion, der siebte ein Chrysolith, der achte ein Beryll, der neunte ein Topas, der zehnte ein Chrysopras, der elfte ein Hyazinth, der zwölfte ein Amethyst.

21. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate being made of a single pearl, and the main street of the city was pure gold, transparent as glass.

21. Die zwölf Tore sind zwölf Perlen; jedes der Tore besteht aus einer einzigen Perle. Die Straße der Stadt ist aus reinem Gold, wie aus klarem Glas.

22. I could not see any temple in the city since the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb were themselves the temple,

22. Einen Tempel sah ich nicht in der Stadt. Denn der Herr, ihr Gott, der Herrscher über die ganze Schöpfung, ist ihr Tempel, er und das Lamm.

23. and the city did not need the sun or the moon for light, since it was lit by the radiant glory of God, and the Lamb was a lighted torch for it.

23. Die Stadt braucht weder Sonne noch Mond, die ihr leuchten. Denn die Herrlichkeit Gottes erleuchtet sie und ihre Leuchte ist das Lamm.

24. The nations will come to its light and the kings of the earth will bring it their treasures.

24. Die Völker werden in diesem Licht einhergehen und die Könige der Erde werden ihre Pracht in die Stadt bringen.

25. Its gates will never be closed by day -- and there will be no night there-

25. Ihre Tore werden den ganzen Tag nicht geschlossen - Nacht wird es dort nicht mehr geben.

26. and the nations will come, bringing their treasure and their wealth.

26. Und man wird die Pracht und die Kostbarkeiten der Völker in die Stadt bringen.

27. Nothing unclean may come into it: no one who does what is loathsome or false, but only those who are listed in the Lamb's book of life.

27. Aber nichts Unreines wird hineinkommen, keiner, der Gräuel verübt und lügt. Nur die, die im Lebensbuch des Lammes eingetragen sind, werden eingelassen.
