Revelation, 7

1. Next I saw four angels, standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the world to keep them from blowing over the land or the sea or any tree.

1. Danach sah ich: Vier Engel standen an den vier Ecken der Erde. Sie hielten die vier Winde der Erde fest, damit der Wind weder über das Land noch über das Meer wehte, noch gegen irgendeinen Baum.

2. Then I saw another angel rising where the sun rises, carrying the seal of the living God; he called in a powerful voice to the four angels whose duty was to devastate land and sea,

2. Dann sah ich vom Osten her einen anderen Engel emporsteigen; er hatte das Siegel des lebendigen Gottes und rief den vier Engeln, denen die Macht gegeben war, dem Land und dem Meer Schaden zuzufügen, mit lauter Stimme zu:

3. 'Wait before you do any damage on land or at sea or to the trees, until we have put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.'

3. Fügt dem Land, dem Meer und den Bäumen keinen Schaden zu, bis wir den Knechten unseres Gottes das Siegel auf die Stirn gedrückt haben.

4. And I heard how many had been sealed: a hundred and forty-four thousand, out of all the tribes of Israel.

4. Und ich erfuhr die Zahl derer, die mit dem Siegel gekennzeichnet waren. Es waren hundertvierundvierzigtausend aus allen Stämmen der Söhne Israels, die das Siegel trugen:

5. From the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand had been sealed; from the tribe of Reuben, twelve thousand; from the tribe of Gad, twelve thousand;

5. Aus dem Stamm Juda trugen zwölftausend das Siegel, / aus dem Stamm Ruben zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Gad zwölftausend,

6. from the tribe of Asher, twelve thousand; from the tribe of Naphtali, twelve thousand; from the tribe of Manasseh, twelve thousand;

6. aus dem Stamm Ascher zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Naftali zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Manasse zwölftausend,

7. from the tribe of Simeon, twelve thousand; from the tribe of Levi, twelve thousand; from the tribe of Issachar, twelve thousand;

7. aus dem Stamm Simeon zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Levi zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Issachar zwölftausend,

8. from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve thousand; and from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand had been sealed.

8. aus dem Stamm Sebulon zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Josef zwölftausend, / aus dem Stamm Benjamin trugen zwölftausend das Siegel.

9. After that I saw that there was a huge number, impossible for anyone to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language; they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. They shouted in a loud voice,

9. Danach sah ich: eine große Schar aus allen Nationen und Stämmen, Völkern und Sprachen; niemand konnte sie zählen. Sie standen in weißen Gewändern vor dem Thron und vor dem Lamm und trugen Palmzweige in den Händen.

10. 'Salvation to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!'

10. Sie riefen mit lauter Stimme: Die Rettung kommt von unserem Gott, der auf dem Thron sitzt, und von dem Lamm.

11. And all the angels who were standing in a circle round the throne, surrounding the elders and the four living creatures, prostrated themselves before the throne, and touched the ground with their foreheads, worshipping God

11. Und alle Engel standen rings um den Thron, um die Ältesten und die vier Lebewesen. Sie warfen sich vor dem Thron nieder, beteten Gott an

12. with these words: Amen. Praise and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honour and power and strength to our God for ever and ever. Amen.

12. und sprachen: Amen, Lob und Herrlichkeit, / Weisheit und Dank, / Ehre und Macht und Stärke / unserem Gott in alle Ewigkeit. Amen.

13. One of the elders then spoke and asked me, 'Who are these people, dressed in white robes, and where have they come from?'

13. Da fragte mich einer der Ältesten: Wer sind diese, die weiße Gewänder tragen, und woher sind sie gekommen?

14. I answered him, 'You can tell me, sir.' Then he said, 'These are the people who have been through the great trial; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb.

14. Ich erwiderte ihm: Mein Herr, das musst du wissen. Und er sagte zu mir: Es sind die, die aus der großen Bedrängnis kommen; sie haben ihre Gewänder gewaschen und im Blut des Lammes weiß gemacht.

15. That is why they are standing in front of God's throne and serving him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.

15. Deshalb stehen sie vor dem Thron Gottes und dienen ihm bei Tag und Nacht in seinem Tempel; und der, der auf dem Thron sitzt, wird sein Zelt über ihnen aufschlagen.

16. They will never hunger or thirst again; sun and scorching wind will never plague them,

16. Sie werden keinen Hunger und keinen Durst mehr leiden und weder Sonnenglut noch irgendeine sengende Hitze wird auf ihnen lasten.

17. because the Lamb who is at the heart of the throne will be their shepherd and will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.'

17. Denn das Lamm in der Mitte vor dem Thron wird sie weiden und zu den Quellen führen, aus denen das Wasser des Lebens strömt, und Gott wird alle Tränen von ihren Augen abwischen.
