Psalms, 140

1. I have cried to the, O Lord, hear me: hearken to my voice, when I cry to thee.

1. Per il maestro di coro. Salmo. Di Davide.

2. Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice.

2. Salvami, Signore, dagli uomini malvagi; proteggimi dagli uomini di violenza.

3. Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth: and a door round about my lips.

3. Essi tramano sventure nel loro cuore; scatenano guerre ogni giorno.

4. Incline not my heart to evil words; to make excuses in sins. With men that work iniquity: and I will not communicate with the choicest of them.

4. Fanno acuta la loro lingua come quella di un serpente, veleno di aspide sta sotto le sue labbra.

5. The just shall correct me in mercy, and shall reprove me: but let not the oil of the sinner fatten my head. For my prayer also shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased:

5. Salvami, Signore, dalle mani degli empi; proteggimi dagli uomini di violenza: essi tramano di far vacillare i miei piedi.

6. their judges falling upon the rock have been swallowed up. They shall hear my words, for they have prevailed:

6. Hanno teso lacci per me i superbi; hanno teso delle funi come rete, hanno collocato insidie per me sul ciglio della strada.

7. as when the thickness of the earth is broken up upon the ground: Our bones are scattered by the side of hell.

7. Io dico al Signore: "Tu sei il mio Dio! Ascolta, Signore, la voce della mia supplica.

8. But o to thee, O Lord, Lord, are my eyes: in thee have I put my trust, take not away my soul.

8. Signore, Signore, mia forza di salvezza, tu hai coperto il mio capo nel giorno della battaglia.

9. Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for me, and from the stumblingblocks of them that work iniquity.

9. Non assecondare, Signore, i desideri degli empi, non favorire i loro disegni".

10. The wicked shall fall in his net: I am alone until I pass.

10. Non levino il capo quanti mi stanno d'attorno; colga loro stessi la malizia delle loro labbra.

11. Faccia piovere su di loro carboni accesi. Li faccia precipitare nel baratro e non possano più rialzarsi.

12.

12. L'uomo di cattiva lingua non rimanga stabile sulla terra; quanto agli uomini di violenza, li perseguiti la sventura fino alla rovina.

13.

13. Io so che il Signore farà giustizia al misero, difenderà la causa del povero.

14.

14. Di certo, i giusti renderanno grazie al tuo nome; si sazieranno i retti della tua presenza.
