Psalms, 83

1. Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.

1. Canto. Salmo. Di Asaf.

2. How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!

2. O Dio, non restartene in silenzio, non tacere, non rimanere inerte, o Dio.

3. my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.

3. Poiché ecco: i tuoi nemici tumultuano, alzano la testa quelli che ti odiano.

4. For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.

4. Contro il tuo popolo con astuzia tengono consiglio, contro quelli che tu proteggi essi fanno complotti.

5. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.

5. Hanno detto: "Orsù, distruggiamoli, in modo che non sia più un popolo e non si nomini più il nome d'Israele".

6. Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,

6. Sì, tutti insieme si sono messi d'accordo di formare un'alleanza contro di te:

7. in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.

7. le tende di Edom con gli Ismaeliti, quelle di Moab con gli Agareni;

8. For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.

8. Gebal con Ammon ed Amalek, la Filistea insieme con gli abitanti di Tiro.

9. O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.

12. For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.

12. Poni i loro capi come già Oreb e Zeb, tutti i loro prìncipi come già Zebee e Sàlmana.

13. He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

13. Essi avevano detto: "Impossessiamoci delle regioni di Dio".

14. Dio mio, riducili a un turbine, come pula in balìa del vento,

15. come un fuoco che incendia la selva, come una fiamma che divora i monti;

16.

16. proprio così inseguili con la tua procella, atterriscili con la tua tempesta.

17.

17. Copri d'ignominia il loro volto, sì che cerchino il tuo nome, o Signore.

18.

18. Rimangano confusi e pieni di spavento per i secoli futuri, e periscano di una fine ignominiosa.

19.

19. Conosceranno così che tu solo, il cui nome è Signore, sei l'Altissimo su tutta la terra.
