26. Nevertheless listen, all you Jews living in Egypt, listen to what Yahweh says to you: By my own great Name I swear - word of Yahweh - that throughout Egypt no one from Judah will invoke my Name; no one will be left to say: 'As the Lord Yahweh lives.'
In Jeremiah 44, God condemns the people of Judah for their continuous disobedience and for persisting to worship foreign gods. 2 Chronicles 36:16-17: "But they moved from the messengers of God, despised their words and ridiculed their prophets, until the wrath of the Lord lit against his people and there was no remedy. " This excerpt from the second chronicles describes the disobedience of the people of Judah to the words of God and the warnings of their prophets. This disobedience resulted in the wrath of God and its consequent punishment, which manifested itself through the Babylonian invasion and the massacre of the people.
