Psalms, 42

5. Now as I pour out my soul, I remember all this - how I used to lead the faithful in procession to the house of God, amid shouts of joy and thanksgiving, among the feasting throng.

Psalm 42 is a psalm of lamentation that expresses the sorrow and longing for the psalmist by the presence of God. He longs for God as a thirsty person longs for water. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 42:

Psalm 63:1: "O God, you are my God; I seek you intensely. My soul is thirsty for you! All my being longs for you, in a dry, exhausted and without water." This verse reflects the same intense search for God expressed by the psalmist in Psalm 42.
