Lévitique, 19

1. Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant :

1. The LORD said to Moses,

2. " Parle à toute l'assemblée d'Israël, et dis-leur : Soyez saints, car je suis saint, moi Yahweh, votre Dieu.

2. "Tell the Israelites: Anyone, whether an Israelite or an alien residing in Israel, who gives any of his offspring to Molech shall be put to death. Let his fellow citizens stone him.

3. Que chacun de vous craigne sa mère et son père, et observe mes sabbats. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.

3. I myself will turn against such a man and cut him off from the body of his people; for in giving his offspring to Molech, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name.

4. Ne vous tournez point vers les idoles, et ne vous faites point de dieux de fonte. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.

4. Even if his fellow citizens connive at such a man's crime of giving his offspring to Molech, and fail to put him to death,

5. Quand vous offrirez à Yahweh un sacrifice pacifique, vous l'offrirez de ma­nière à vous concilier sa faveur.

5. I myself will set my face against that man and his family and will cut off from their people both him and all who join him in his wanton worship of Molech.

6. La victime sera mangée le jour où vous l'im­molerez, ou le lendemain ; ce qui restera jusqu'au troisième jour sera consumé par le feu.

6. Should anyone turn to mediums and fortune-tellers and follow their wanton ways, I will turn against such a one and cut him off from his people.

7. Si quelqu'un en mange le troisième jour, c'est une abomination : le sacrifice ne sera point agréé.

7. Sanctify yourselves, then, and be holy; for I, the LORD, your God, am holy.

8. Celui qui en mangera portera son iniquité, car il profane ce qui est consacré à Yahweh cet homme sera retranché de son peuple.

8. Be careful, therefore, to observe what I, the LORD, who make you holy, have prescribed.

9. Quand vous ferez la moisson de votre pays, tu ne moissonneras pas jusqu'à la limite extrême de ton champ, et tu ne ramasseras pas ce qu'il y a à glaner de ta moisson.

9. "Anyone who curses his father or mother shall be put to death; since he has cursed his father or mother, he has forfeited his life.

10. Tu ne cueilleras pas non plus les grappes restées dans ta vigne, et tu ne ramasseras pas les fruits tombés dans ton verger; tu laisseras cela au pauvre et à l'étranger. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.

10. If a man commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.

11. Vous ne déroberez point, et vous n'userez ni de tromperie ni de mensonge les uns envers les autres.

11. If a man disgraces his father by lying with his father's wife, both the man and his stepmother shall be put to death; they have forfeited their lives.

12. Vous ne jurerez point par mon nom, en mentant, car tu profanerais le nom de ton Dieu. Je suis Yahweh.

12. If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; since they have committed an abhorrent deed, they have forfeited their lives.

13. Tu n'opprimeras point ton prochain, et tu ne le dépouilleras pas. Le salaire du mercenaire ne restera pas chez toi jusqu'au lendemain.

13. If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.

14. Tu ne proféreras point de malédiction contre un sourd, et tu ne mettras pas devant un aveugle quelque chose qui puisse le faire tomber; car tu auras la crainte de ton Dieu. Je suis Yahweh.

14. If a man marries a woman and her mother also, the man and the two women as well shall be burned to death for their shameful conduct, so that such shamefulness may not be found among you.

15. Vous ne commettrez pas d'injustice dans le jugement : tu n'auras pas de faveur pour le pauvre, et tu n'auras pas de complaisance pour le puissant; mais tu jugeras ton prochain selon la justice.

15. If a man has carnal relations with an animal, the man shall be put to death, and the animal shall be slain.

16. Tu n'iras pas semant la diffamation parmi ton peuple. Tu ne te tiendras pas comme témoin contre le sang de ton prochain. Je suis Yahweh.

16. If a woman goes up to any animal to mate with it, the woman and the animal shall be slain; let them both be put to death; their lives are forfeit.

17. Tu ne haïras point ton frère dans ton coeur, mais tu reprendras ton prochain, afin de ne pas te charger d'un péché à cause de lui.

17. If a man consummates marriage with his sister or his half-sister, they shall be publicly cut off from their people for this shameful deed; the man shall pay the penalty of having had intercourse with his own sister.

18. Tu ne te vengeras point, et tu ne garderas point de rancune contre les enfants de ton peuple. Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même. Je suis Yahweh. i Vous observerez mes lois.

18. If a man lies in sexual intercourse with a woman during her menstrual period, both of them shall be cut off from their people, because they have laid bare the flowing fountain of her blood.

19. Tu n'accoupleras point des bestiaux de deux espèces différentes; tu n'ense­menceras pas ton champ de deux es­pèces de semences; et tu ne porteras point un vêtement tissu de deux espèces de fils.

19. You shall not have intercourse with your mother's sister or your father's sister; whoever does so shall pay the penalty of incest.

20. Si un homme couche et a commerce avec une femme qui soit une esclave fiancée à un autre homme et qui n'a pas été rachetée ou affranchie, ils seront châtiés tous deux, mais non punis de mort, parce que l'esclave n'était pas affranchie.

20. If a man disgraces his uncle by having intercourse with his uncle's wife, the man and his aunt shall pay the penalty by dying childless.

21. Pour sa faute, l'homme amè­nera à Yahweh, à l'entrée de la tente de réunion, un bélier en sacrifice de répa­ration.

21. If a man marries his brother's wife and thus disgraces his brother, they shall be childless because of this incest.

22. Le prêtre fera pour lui l'expia­tion devant Yahweh avec le bélier du sacrifice de réparation, pour le péché qu'il a commis, et le péché qu'il a com­mis lui sera pardonné.

22. "Be careful to observe all my statutes and all my decrees; otherwise the land where I am bringing you to dwell will vomit you out.

23. Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays et que vous aurez planté toutes sortes d'arbres fruitiers, vous en regarderez les fruits comme incirconcis : pendant trois ans, ils seront incirconcis pour vous on n'en mangera point.

23. Do not conform, therefore, to the customs of the nations whom I am driving out of your way, because all these things that they have done have filled me with disgust for them.

24. La quatrième année, tous leurs fruits seront consacrés en louange à Yahweh.

24. But to you I have said: Their land shall be your possession, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am giving it to you as your own, I, the LORD, your God, who have set you apart from the other nations.

25. La cinquième année, vous en mangerez les fruits, et ainsi l'arbre vous continuera son rap­port. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.

25. You, too, must set apart, then, the clean animals from the unclean, and the clean birds from the unclean, so that you may not be contaminated with the uncleanness of any beast or bird or of any swarming creature in the land that I have set apart for you.

26. Vous ne mangerez rien avec du sang. Vous ne pratiquerez ni la divination ni la magie.

26. To me, therefore, you shall be sacred; for I, the LORD, am sacred, I, who have set you apart from the other nations to be my own.

27. Vous ne tondrez point en rond les coins de votre chevelure, et tu ne ra­seras point les coins de ta barbe.

27. "A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortune-teller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death."

28. Vous ne ferez point d'incisions dans votre chair pour un mort, et vous n'imprimerez point de figures sur vous. Je suis Yahweh.

29. Ne profane pas ta fille en la prosti­tuant, de peur que le pays ne se livre à la prostitution et ne se remplisse de crimes.

30. Vous observerez mes sabbats et vous révérerez mon sanctuaire. je suis Yah­weh.

31. Ne vous adressez point à ceux qui évo­quent les esprits, ni aux devins; ne les consultez point, pour ne pas être souillés par eux. je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.

31.

32. Tu te lèveras devant une tête blanchie, et tu honoreras la personne du vieillard. Tu craindras ton Dieu. Je suis Yahweh.

32.

33. Si un étranger vient séjourner avec vous dans votre pays, vous ne l'opprimerez point.

33.

34. Vous traiterez l'étranger en sé­jour parmi vous comme un indigène du milieu de vous ; tu l'aimeras comme toi ­même, car vous avez été étrangers dans le pays d'Egypte. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.

34.

35. Vous ne commettrez point d'injustice, soit dans les jugements, soit dans les mesures de longueur, soit dans les poids, soit dans les mesures de capacité.

35.

36. Vous aurez des balances justes, des poids justes, un épha juste et un hin juste. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d'Egypte.

36.

37. Vous observerez toutes mes lois et toutes mes ordonnances, et vous les met­trez en pratique. Je suis Yahweh. "
