Jeremiah, 48

7. For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity [with] his priests and his princes together.

Jeremiah 48 describes the imminent destruction of Moab by the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, because of his arrogance and wickedness against God. The verses selected below describe the divine judgment on Moab, the lamentation of their people, and God's sovereignty over all nations.

Isaiah 16:6 - "We have heard of the superb of Moab, his arrogance and pride, his insolence and his empty brave." This verse refers to Moab's arrogant attitude, which led to his conviction and punishment.

Psalm 60:8 - "Moab is my basin of washing my feet; About Edom I throw my sandal; on philistia I give my cry of victory." This verse shows how God controls nations and uses them to perform their will.
