Deutéronome, 12

1. Voici les lois et les ordonnances que vous aurez soin de mettreen pratique dans le pays que Yahweh, le Dieu de vos pères,vous à donné pour le posséder, tout le tempsque vous vivrez sur ce sol.

1. "These are the statutes and decrees which you must be careful to observe in the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to occupy, as long as you live on its soil.

2. Vous détruirez entièrement tous les lieuxoù les nations que vous allez chasser servaient leursdieux, sur les hautes montagnes, sur les collines et sous toutarbre vert.

2. Destroy without fail every place on the high mountains, on the hills, and under every leafy tree where the nations you are to dispossess worship their gods.

3. Vous renverserez leurs autels, vous briserez leursstèles, vous livrerez au feu leurs aschérim, vousmettrez en pièces les images taillées de leursdieux, et vous ferez disparaître de ces lieuxjusqu'à leurs noms.

3. Tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, destroy by fire their sacred poles, and shatter the idols of their gods, that you may stamp out the remembrance of them in any such place.

4. Vous ne ferez pas ainsi à l'égard de Yahweh,votre Dieu.

4. "That is not how you are to worship the LORD, your God.

5. Mais vous le chercherez au lieu que Yahweh, votre Dieu,choisira parmi toutes vos tribus pour y mettre son nom et enfaire sa demeure, et c'est là que tu iras.

5. Instead, you shall resort to the place which the LORD, your God, chooses out of all your tribes and designates as his dwelling

6. C'est là que vous présenterez vos holocaustes etvos sacrifices, vos dîmes et ce que votre main auraprélevé, vos voeux et vos offrandes volontaires, etles premiers-nés de vos boeufs et de vos brebis.

6. and there you shall bring your holocausts and sacrifices, your tithes and personal contributions, your votive and freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and flocks.

7. C'est là que vous ferez des repas sacrés devantYahweh, votre Dieu, et que vous vous réjouirez, vous etvos familles, en jouissant de tous les biens que votre main auraacquis et par lesquels Yahweh, ton Dieu, t'aura béni.

7. There, too, before the LORD, your God, you and your families shall eat and make merry over all your undertakings, because the LORD, your God, has blessed you.

8. Vous ne ferez pas, selon tout ce que nous faisons maintenantici, chacun ce que bon lui semble,

8. You shall not do as we are now doing; here, everyone does what seems right to himself,

9. parce que vous n'êtes pas encore arrivés au reposet à l'héritage que te donne Yahweh, ton Dieu.

9. since you have not yet reached your resting place, the heritage which the LORD, your God, will give you.

10. Mais vous passerez le Jourdain et vous habiterez le pays queYahweh, votre Dieu, vous donnera en héritage, et il vousdonnera du repos en vous protégeant contre tous lesennemis qui vous entourent, et vous habiterez ensécurité.

10. But after you have crossed the Jordan and dwell in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you as a heritage, when he has given you rest from all your enemies round about and you live there in security,

11. Alors dans le lieu que Yahweh, votre Dieu, choisira pour yfaire habiter son nom, c'est là que vousprésenterez tout ce que je vous commande, vos holocausteset vos sacrifices, vos dîmes et ce que votre main auraprélevé, et toutes les offrandes de choix pourl'accomplissement de vos voeux que vous ferez àYahweh.

11. then to the place which the LORD, your God, chooses as the dwelling place for his name you shall bring all the offerings I command you: your holocausts and sacrifices, your tithes and personal contributions, and every special offering you have vowed to the LORD.

12. Et vous vous réjouirez en présence de Yahweh,votre Dieu, vous, vos fils et vos filles, vos serviteurs et vosservantes, et le Lévite qui sera dans vos portes, car iln'a reçu ni part ni héritage avec vous.

12. You shall make merry before the LORD, your God, with your sons and daughters, your male and female slaves, as well as with the Levite who belongs to your community but has no share of his own in your heritage.

13. Garde-toi d'offrir tes holocaustes dans tous les lieux que tuverras;

13. Take care not to offer up your holocausts in any place you fancy,

14. mais tu offriras tes holocaustes au lieu que Yahweh aurachoisi dans l'une de tes tribus, et c'est là que tu ferastout ce que je te commande.

14. but offer them up in the place which the LORD chooses from among your tribes; there you shall make whatever offerings I enjoin upon you.

15. Tu pourras néanmoins, tant que tu le désireras,tuer du bétail et manger de la viande dans toutes tesportes, selon les bénédictions que t'accorderaYahweh, ton Dieu; l'homme impur et l'homme pur pourront enmanger, comme on mange de la gazelle et du cerf. Mais vous nemangerez pas le sang: tu le répandras sur la terre, commede l'eau.

15. "However, in any of your communities you may slaughter and eat to your heart's desire as much meat as the LORD, your God, has blessed you with; and the unclean as well as the clean may eat it, as they do the gazelle or the deer.

16. Only, you shall not partake of the blood, but must pour it out on the ground like water.

17. Tu ne pourras pas manger dans tes portes la dîme de tonblé, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, ni lespremiers-nés de tes boeufs et de tes brebis, ni toutes lesoffrandes que tu auras vouées, ni tes offrandesvolontaires, ni ce que ta main aura prélevé.

17. Moreover, you shall not, in your own communities, partake of your tithe of grain or wine or oil, of the first-born of your herd or flock, of any offering you have vowed, of your freewill offerings, or of your personal contributions.

18. C'est devant Yahweh, ton Dieu, dans le lieu que Yahweh, tonDieu, aura choisi, que tu les mangeras, toi, ton fils et tafille, ton serviteur et ta servante, et le Lévite qui seradans tes portes; tu te réjouiras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu,en jouissant de tous les biens que ta main aura acquis.

18. These you must eat before the LORD, your God, in the place he chooses, along with your son and daughter, your male and female slave, and the Levite who belongs to your community; and there, before the LORD, you shall make merry over all your undertakings.

19. Garde-toi de délaisser le Lévite, aussilongtemps que tu vivras sur ton sol.

19. Take care, also, that you do not neglect the Levite as long as you live in the land.

20. Lorsque Yahweh, ton Dieu, aura élargi tesfrontières, comme il te l'a promis, et que tu diras: Jeveux manger de la viande, ton âme éprouvant ledésir de manger de la viande, tu pourras manger de laviande toutes les fois que tu le désireras.

20. "After the LORD, your God, has enlarged your territory, as he promised you, when you wish meat for food, you may eat it at will, to your heart's desire;

21. Si le lieu que Yahweh, ton Dieu, choisira pour y mettre sonnom est éloigné de toi, tu pourras tuer de tesboeufs et de tes brebis que Yahweh t'a donnés, selon queje te l'ai prescrit, et tu en mangeras dans tes portes, toutesles fois que tu le désireras.

21. and if the place which the LORD, your God, chooses for the abode of his name is too far, you may slaughter in the manner I have told you any of your herd or flock that the LORD has given you, and eat it to your heart's desire in your own community.

22. Tu en mangeras comme on mange de la gazelle ou du cerf:l'homme pur ou l'homme impur en mangeront l'un et l'autre.

22. You may eat it as you would the gazelle or the deer: the unclean and the clean eating it alike.

23. Seulement tiens ferme à ne pas manger le sang, car lesang, c'est l'âme, et tu ne mangeras pas l'âme avecla chair.

23. But make sure that you do not partake of the blood; for blood is life, and you shall not consume this seat of life with the flesh.

24. Tu ne le mangeras pas; tu le répandras sur la terrecomme de l'eau.

24. Do not partake of the blood, therefore, but pour it out on the ground like water.

25. Tu ne le mangeras pas, afin que tu sois heureux, toi et tesenfants après toi, en faisant ce qui est droit aux yeux deYahweh.

25. Abstain from it, that you and your children after you may prosper for doing what is right in the sight of the LORD.

26. Mais les saintes offrandes qui te sont demandées etcelles que tu as vouées, tu les prendras et tu iras aulieu que Yahweh aura choisi,

26. However, any sacred gifts or votive offerings that you may have, you shall bring with you to the place which the LORD chooses,

27. et tu offriras tes holocaustes, la chair et le sang, surl'autel de Yahweh, ton Dieu, et tu mangeras la chair.

27. and there you must offer both the flesh and the blood of your holocausts on the altar of the LORD, your God; of your other sacrifices the blood indeed must be poured out against the altar of the LORD, your God, but their flesh may be eaten.

28. Observe et écoute toutes ces choses que je t'ordonne,afin que tu sois heureux, toi et tes enfants après toi,à perpétuité, en faisant ce qui est bien etdroit aux yeux de Yahweh.

28. Be careful to heed all these commandments I enjoin on you, that you and your descendants may always prosper for doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD, your God.

29. Lorsque Yahweh, ton Dieu, aura exterminé les nationslà où tu vas pour les chasser de devant de toi, quetu les auras chassées et que tu habiteras dans leurpays,

29. "When the LORD, your God, removes the nations from your way as you advance to dispossess them, be on your guard! Otherwise, once they have been wiped out before you and you have replaced them and are settled in their land,

30. prends garde que tu ne sois pris au piège en lesimitant, après qu'elles auront étédétruites devant toi. Garde-toi de rechercher leurs dieux,en disant: «Comment ces nations servaient-elles leursdieux? Je veux faire de même, moi aussi.»

30. you will be lured into following them. Do not inquire regarding their gods, 'How did these nations worship their gods? I, too, would do the same.'

31. Tu n'agiras pas ainsi à l'égard de Yahweh, tonDieu; car elles faisaient pour leurs dieux toutes lesabominations que déteste Yahweh, et même elleslivrent au feu leurs fils et leurs filles en l'honneur de leursdieux.

31. You shall not thus worship the LORD, your God, because they offered to their gods every abomination that the LORD detests, even burning their sons and daughters to their gods.

32. Toutes les choses que je vous prescris, vous les observerez enles mettant en pratique, sans y rien ajouter et sans en rienretrancher.
