Zacharie, 1

1. Le huitième mois, en la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Barachie, petit fils d'Addo, le prophète, en ces termes :

1. In the second year of Darius, in the eighth month, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo:

2. Yahweh a été dans un grand courroux contre vos pères.

2. The LORD was indeed angry with your fathers. . .

3. Et tu leur diras : Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Revenez à moi, -oracle de Yahweh des armées, et je reviendrai à vous, - dit Yahweh des armées.

3. and say to them: Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.

4. Ne soyez pas comme vos pères, auxquels ont prêché les premiers prophètes en disant " Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées Revenez donc de vos mauvaises voies, et de vos mauvaises actions! " et qui n'ont pas écouté et ne m'ont pas prêté attention, - oracle de Yahweh.

4. Be not like your fathers whom the former prophets warned: Thus says the LORD of hosts: Turn from your evil ways and from your wicked deeds. But they would not listen or pay attention to me, says the LORD.

5. Vos pères, où sont-ils? Et les prophètes, pouvaient-ils vivre éternellement?

5. Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, can they live forever?

6. Mais mes paroles et mes décrets, dont j'avais chargé mes serviteurs les prophètes , n'ont-ils pas atteint vos pères, si bien qu'ils se sont convertis et ont dit : " Comme Yahweh des armées avait résolu d'agir à notre égard, selon nos voies et selon nos actions, ainsi il a agi envers nous. "

6. But my words and my decrees, which I entrusted to my servants the prophets, did not these overtake your fathers? Then they repented and admitted: "The LORD of hosts has treated us according to our ways and deeds, just as he had determined he would."

7. Le vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Sabath, en la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Dieu fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Barachie, petit-fils d'Addo, le prophète, en ces termes :

7. In the second year of Darius, on the twenty-fourth day of Shebat, the eleventh month, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, in the following way:

8. J'ai eu une vision pendant la nuit : Voici qu'un homme était monté sur un cheval roux, et il se tenait entre des myrtes dans un lieu ombragé, et il y avait derrière lui des chevaux roux, alezans et blancs.

8. I had a vision during the night. There appeared the driver of a red horse, standing among myrtle trees in a shady place, and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.

9. Je dis : " Que sont ceux-ci, mon seigneur? " Et l'ange qui parlait avec moi me dit : " Je te ferai voir ce que sont ceux-ci. "

9. Then I asked, "What are these, my lord?"; and the angel who spoke with me answered me, "I will show you what these are."

10. Et l'homme qui se tenait entre les myrtes prit la parole et dit : " Ce sont ceux que Yahweh a envoyés pour parcourir la terre."

10. The man who was standing among the myrtle trees spoke up and said, "These are they whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth."

11. Et ils répondirent à l'ange de Yahweh qui se tenait entre les myrtes, et ils dirent : " Nous avons parcouru la terre, et voici que toute la terre est habitée et tranquille. "

11. And they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees and said, "We have patrolled the earth; see, the whole earth is tranquil and at rest!"

12. L'ange de Yahweh prit la parole et dit : " Yahweh des armées, jusques à quand n'auras-tu pas pitié de Jérusalem et des villes de Juda contre lesquelles tu es irrité voilà soixante-dix ans?"

12. Then the angel of the Lord spoke out and said, "O LORD of hosts, how long will you be without mercy for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that have felt your anger these seventy years?"

13. Et Yahweh adressa à l'ange qui parlait avec moi de bonnes paroles, des paroles de consolation.

13. To the angel who spoke with me, the LORD replied with comforting words.

14. Et l'ange qui parlait avec moi me dit : " Proclame ceci : Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : J'ai été animé d'une grande jalousie pour Jérusalem et pour Sion ;

14. And the angel who spoke with me said to me, Proclaim: Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am deeply moved for the sake of Jerusalem and Zion,

15. et je suis animé d'un grand courroux contre les nations qui vivent dans l'opulence ! Car moi, j'étais un peu irrité; et elles ont, elles, travaillé à la ruine.

15. and I am exceedingly angry with the complacent nations; whereas I was but a little angry, they added to the harm.

16. C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh : Je reviens à Jérusalem avec compassion ; ma maison y sera rebâtie, - oracle de Yahweh des armées, et le cordeau sera étendu sur Jérusalem.

16. Therefore, says the LORD: I will turn to Jerusalem in mercy; my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and a measuring line shall be stretched over Jerusalem.

17. Proclame encore ceci : Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Mes villes regorgeront encore de biens, et Yahweh consolera encore Sion, et choisira encore Jérusalem. "

17. Proclaim further: Thus says the LORD of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity; the LORD will again comfort Zion, and again choose Jerusalem.
