Zacharie, 7

1. La quatrième année du roi Darius, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Zacharie, au quatrième jour du neuvième mois, en Casleu.

1. In the fourth year of Darius the king (the word of the LORD came to Zechariah), on the fourth day of Chislev, the ninth month,

2. Béthel avait envoyé Sarasar et Rogommélech, avec ses gens, pour implorer Yahweh,

2. Bethelsarezer sent Regemmelech and his men to implore favor of the LORD

3. pour parler aux prêtres de la maison de Yahweh des armées et aux prophètes, en ces termes : "Dois-je pleurer au cinquième mois, et faire abstinence, comme j'ai fait depuis tant d'années? "

3. and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and the prophets, "Must I mourn and abstain in the fifth month as I have been doing these many years?"

4. La parole de Yahweh des armées me fut adressée en ces termes :

4. Thereupon this word of the LORD of hosts came to me:

5. Parle à tout le peuple du pays et aux prêtres, en ces termes : Quand vous avez jeûné et célébré le deuil au cinquième et au septième mois, et cela depuis soixante-dix ans, est-ce pour moi que vous jeûniez?

5. Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month these seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?

6. Et quand vous mangez et buvez, n'est-ce pas vous qui mangez et vous qui buvez? 7 N'y a-t-il pas les paroles qu'a proclamées Yahweh par l'intermédiaire des anciens prophètes, quand Jérusalem était habitée et tranquille, avec ses villes autour d'elle, et que le négéb et la sephé-lah étaient habités?

6. And when you were eating and drinking, was it not for yourselves that you ate, and for yourselves that you drank?

7. Were not these the words which the LORD spoke through the former prophets, when Jerusalem and the surrounding cities were inhabited and at peace, when the Negeb and the foothills were inhabited?

9. Ainsi parlait Yahweh des armées en disant : " Rendez la jus-tice selon la vérité; pratiquez la miséri-corde et la compassion chacun envers son frère;

9. Thus says the LORD of hosts:) Render true judgment, and show kindness and compassion toward each other.

10. n'opprimez pas la veuve et l'orphelin, l'étranger et le pauvre, et me méditez pas l'un contre l'autre le mal dans vos coeurs "

10. Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor; do not plot evil against one another in your hearts.

11. Mais ils ont refusé d'écouter, ils ont prêté une épaule re-belle et endurci leurs oreilles pour ne pas entendre.

11. But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.

12. Ils ont rendu leur coeur tel que le diamant, pour me pas enten-dre la loi et les paroles que Yahweh des armées leur adressait par son Esprit, par l'intermédiaire des anciens prophètes. Aussi y eut-il une violente indignation de la part de Yahweh des armées.

12. And they made their hearts diamondhard so as not to hear the teaching and the message that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets.

13. Et il arriva : De même qu'il avait appelé sans qu'ils écoutassent, " de même ils appelleront sans que je les écoute, dit Yahweh des armées.

13. Then the LORD of hosts in his great anger said that, as they had not listened when he called, so he would not listen when they called,

14. Je les disperserai parmi toutes les nations qu'ils ne connais-sent pas, et derrière eux le pays restera désolé, sans personne qui passe ou re-vienne. " D'un pays de délices ils ont fait un désert.

14. but would scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they did not know. Thus the land was left desolate after them with no one traveling to and fro; they made the pleasant land into a desert.
