Zacharie, 2

1. Je levai les yeux et je vis : Et voici quatre cornes.

1. I raised my eyes and looked; there were four horns.

2. Et je dis à l'ange qui parlait avec moi : "Que sont celles-ci? " Il me dit : " Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem. "

2. Then I asked the angel who spoke with me what these were. He answered me, "These are the horns that scattered Judah and Israeland Jerusalem."

3. Then the LORD showed me four blacksmiths. And I asked, "What are these coming to do?"

4. Il répondit en ces termes : " Ce sont là les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, au point que personne ne levait la tête, et ceux-ci sont venus pour les frapper de terreur, pour abattre les cornes des nations qui ont levé la corne contre le pays de Juda pour le disperser.

4. And he said, "Here are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no man raised his head any more; but these have come to terrify them: to cast down the horns of the nations that raised their horns to scatter the land of Judah."

5. Again I raised my eyes and looked: there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.

6. Et je dis : " Où vas-tu? " Et il me dit : " Je vais mesurer Jérusalem pour voir quelle en doit être la largeur et quelle en doit être la longueur."

6. "Where are you going?" I asked. "To measure Jerusalem," he answered; "to see how great is its width and how great its length."

7. Et voici que parut l'ange qui parlait avec moi ; et un autre ange apparut, allant à sa rencontre;

7. Then the angel who spoke with me advanced, and another angel came out to meet him,

8. et il lui dit : " Cours ! Parle à ce jeune homme en ces termes : C'est comme une ville ouverte que sera habitée Jérusalem, tant il y aura en son sein d'hommes et de bêtes.

8. and said to him, "Run, tell this to that young man: People will live in Jerusalem as though in open country, because of the multitude of men and beasts in her midst.

9. Et moi, je serai pour elle,- oracle de Yahweh,- une muraille de feu à l'entour, et je serai en gloire au milieu d'elle.

9. But I will be for her an encircling wall of fire, says the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst."

10. Holà! Holà! Fuyez du pays du septentrion, - oracle de Yahweh, car je vous ai dispersés aux quatre vents du ciel, - oracle de Yahweh.

10. Up, up! Flee from the land of the north, says the LORD; for I scatter you to the four winds of heaven, says the LORD.

11. Holà! Sion, sauve-toi, toi qui habites chez la fille de Babylone !

11. Up, escape to Zion! you who dwell in daughter Babylon.

12. Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Pour sa gloire il m'a envoyé vers les nations qui vous ont pillés; car qui vous touche touche la prunelle de son oeil.

12. For thus said the LORD of hosts (after he had already sent me) concerning the nations that have plundered you: Whoever touches you touches the apple of my eye.

13. Car voici que j'agite ma main sur elles, et elles seront un butin pour ceux qui leur sont asservis; et vous saurez que Yahweh des armées m'a envoyé.

13. See, I wave my hand over them; they become plunder for their slaves. Thus you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.

14. Pousse des cris de joie et sois dans l'allégresse, fille de Sion ; car voici que je viens et j'habiterai au milieu de toi, -oracle de Yahweh.

14. Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the LORD.

15. Beaucoup de nations s'attacheront à Yahweh en ce jour-là, et elles seront mon peuple ; et j'habiterai au milieu de toi, et tu sauras que Yahweh des armées m'a envoyé vers toi.

15. Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD on that day, and they shall be his people, and he will dwell among you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.

16. Yahweh possédera Juda comme sa portion sur la terre sainte, et il choisira encore Jérusalem.

16. The LORD will possess Judah as his portion of the holy land, and he will again choose Jerusalem.

17. Que toute chair fasse silence devant Yahweh, car il s'est élevé de sa sainte demeure.

17. Silence, all mankind, in the presence of the LORD! for he stirs forth from his holy dwelling.

2:1-5 - Zechariah has a vision of Jerusalem as a city without walls, surrounded by divine fire. The city will be protected by God, who will be in its midst. The image of God as protector of His people is central, revealing His constant presence and divine care for the city of Jerusalem (see also Isaiah 4:5-6 and Revelation 21:2-3).

2:6-13 - God's promise to bring the children of Israel back from the dispersion, inviting them to return to Jerusalem, is an expression of His commitment to His people. Psalms 46:5: "God is in her! It will not be shaken! God will help you from the break of dawn." - This psalm expresses the same confidence in the divine protection of Jerusalem that we find in Zechariah 2:5.
