18. Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to you, as you eat of the plants of the field.
Genesis 3 is the third chapter of the Bible and describes the fall of man in sin. He reports how the serpent tried to eat the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, how Eve gave Adam to eat, as God confronted the couple about sin and pronounced the curse over the serpent, the woman and Man, and how God expelled the man and woman from the garden of Eden. Next are five Bible verses that relate to topics addressed in Genesis 3:
Romans 5:12: "Therefore, just as one man entered sin in the world, and by sin death, so death passed to all men, for all sinned." This verse relates to the fall of man in sin and highlights how sin and death entered the world through Adam, as described in Genesis 3.
1 John 2:16: "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, does not proceed with the Father, but proceeds from the world." This verse relates to Eve's temptation by the serpent, which included the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, as described in Genesis 3.
Revelation 12:9: "And the great dragon was precipitated, the ancient serpent, which is called devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; was hasty on earth, and his angels were thrown with him." This verse relates to the serpent that tried to eat the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, as described in Genesis 3.
Galatians 3:13: "Christ has rescued us from the curse of the law, making Himself for us; for it is written, Cursed everyone who hangs in the tree." This verse relates to God's pronounced curse over man and woman after the fall, as described in Genesis 3, and highlights how Christ rescued us from this curse by becoming a curse for us.
Revelation 22:14: "Blessed are those who wash their garments in the blood of the Lamb, that they may be entitled to the tree of life, and can enter the city through the doors." This verse relates to the expulsion of man and woman from the garden of Eden, as described in Genesis 3, and highlights how we can have access to the tree of life through redemption by the blood of Jesus.
