Psalm 20 is a prayer for the success and protection of the king and the people of Israel in times of war. The psalmist invokes divine help and asks God to hear his prayers. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 20:
Isaiah 31:5: "As birds fly, so the Lord of hosts will protect Jerusalem; He will protect it, He shall free it, save it and rescue it." This verse speaks of the protection that God offers to his people in times of war, just as the psalmist asks in Psalm 20.
2 Chronicles 32:7: "They strive and be brave; do not be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria and all the army with him, for there is a greater with us than with him." Psalm 144:1: "Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands to war and my fingers to battle." This verse speaks of the psalmist's confidence in divine help in times of war, as is Psalm 20.
