Apocalypse, 12

1. Puis il parut dans le ciel un grand signe : une femme revêtue du soleil, la lune sous ses pieds, et une couronne de douze étoiles sur sa tête.

1. A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

2. Elle était enceinte, et elle criait, dans le travail et les douleurs de l'enfantement.

2. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.

3. Un autre signe parut encore dans le ciel : tout à coup on vit un grand dragon rouge ayant sept têtes et dix cornes, et sur ses têtes, sept diadèmes;

3. Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems.

4. de sa queue, il entraînait le tiers des étoiles du ciel, et il les jeta sur la terre. Puis le dragon se dressa devant la femme qui allait enfanter afin de dévorer son enfant, dès qu'elle l'aurait mis au monde.

4. Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth.

5. Or, elle donna lu jour à un enfant mâle, qui doit gouverner toutes les nations avec un sceptre de fer; et son enfant fût enlevé auprès de Dieu et auprès de son trône,

5. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne.

6. et la femme s'enfuit au désert, où Dieu lui avait préparé une retraite, afin qu'elle y fût nourrie pendant mille deux cent soixante jours.

6. The woman herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God, that there she might be taken care of for twelve hundred and sixty days.

7. Et il y eut un combat dans le ciel Michel et ses anges combattaient contre le dragon; et le dragon et ses anges combattaient;

7. Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back,

8. mais ils ne purent vaincre, et leur place même ne se trouva plus dans le ciel.

8. but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.

9. Et il fût précipité, le grand dragon, le serpent ancien, celui qui est appelé le diable et Satan, le séducteur de toute la terre, il fût précipité sur la terre, et ses anges furent précipités avec lui.

9. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it.

10. Et j'entendis dans le ciel une voix forte Lui disait : " Maintenant le salut, la puissance et l'empire sont à notre Dieu, et l'autorité à son Christ ; car il a été précipité, l'accusateur de nos frères, celui qui les accuse jour et nuit devant notre Dieu.

10. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have salvation and power come, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Anointed. For the accuser of our brothers is cast out, who accuses them before our God day and night.

11. Eux aussi l'ont vaincu par le sang de l'Agneau et par la parole à laquelle ils ont rendu témoignage, et ils ont méprisé leur vie jusqu'à mourir.

11. They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; love for life did not deter them from death.

12. C'est pourquoi, réjouissez-vous, cieux, et vous qui y demeurez ! Malheur à la terre et â la mer! car le diable est descendu vers vous, avec une grande fureur, sachant qu'il ne lui reste que peu de temps. "

12. Therefore, rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them. But woe to you, earth and sea, for the Devil has come down to you in great fury, for he knows he has but a short time."

13. Quand le dragon se vit précipité sur la terre, il poursuivit la femme qui avait mis au monde l'enfant mâle.

13. When the dragon saw that it had been thrown down to the earth, it pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.

14. Et les deux ailes du grand aigle furent données à la femme pour s'envoler au désert, en sa retraite, où elle est nourrie un temps, des temps et la moitié d'un temps, hors de la présence du serpent.

14. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she could fly to her place in the desert, where, far from the serpent, she was taken care of for a year, two years, and a half-year.

15. Alors le serpent lança de sa gueule, après la femme, de l'eau comme un fleuve, afin de la faire entraîner par le fleuve.

15. The serpent, however, spewed a torrent of water out of his mouth after the woman to sweep her away with the current.

16. Mais la terre vint au secours de la femme; elle ouvrit son sein et engloutit le fleuve que le dragon avait jeté de sa gueule.

16. But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth and swallowed the flood that the dragon spewed out of its mouth.

17. Et le dragon fût rempli de fureur contre la femme, et il alla faire la guerre au reste de ses enfants, à ceux qui observent les commandements de Dieu et qui gardent le commandement de Jésus.

17. Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God's commandments and bear witness to Jesus. (18) It took its position on the sand of the sea.

18. Et 18 il s'arrêta sur le sable de la mer.
