Hosea, 4

1. Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because [there is] no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Chapter 4 of Hosea addresses the question of idolatry and the lack of knowledge of God by the people of Israel and its leaders. The prophet Hosea condemns the worship of idols and the corruption of leaders, pointing out the wrong behavior as the cause of people's problems. Isaiah 1:2-3: "I heard, O heavens, and hear, O earth; for the Lord said, I raised children, and magnified them; but they rebelled against me.
