Psalms, 87

1. [Of the sons of Korah Psalm Song] With its foundations on the holy mountains,

1. [Ein Psalm der Korachiter. Ein Lied.]

2. Yahweh loves his city, he prefers the gates of Zion to any dwelling-place in Jacob.

2. Der Herr liebt (Zion), seine Gründung auf heiligen Bergen; / mehr als all seine Stätten in Jakob liebt er die Tore Zions.

3. He speaks of glory for you, city of God,Pause

3. Herrliches sagt man von dir, / du Stadt unseres Gottes. [Sela]

4. 'I number Rahab and Babylon among those that acknowledge me; look at Tyre, Philistia, Ethiopia, so and so was born there.'

4. Leute aus Ägypten und Babel / zähle ich zu denen, die mich kennen; auch von Leuten aus dem Philisterland, / aus Tyrus und Kusch / sagt man: Er ist dort geboren.

5. But of Zion it will be said, 'Every one was born there,' her guarantee is the Most High.

5. Doch von Zion wird man sagen: / Jeder ist dort geboren. / Er, der Höchste, hat Zion gegründet.

6. Yahweh in his register of peoples will note against each, 'Born there',Pause

7. princes no less than native-born; all make their home in you.

7. Und sie werden beim Reigentanz singen: / All meine Quellen entspringen in dir.
