Hosea, 9

4. They shall not offer wine [offerings] to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices [shall be] unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.

Hosea Chapter 9 deals with the imminent punishment that God will bring about the people of Israel because of their sins and infidelity. Israel had become a rotten fruit, and God would reject them and leave them alone. Following are five selected verses from other parts of the Bible that address topics related to this chapter:

Jeremiah 17:10: "I, the Lord, squad my heart, I prove the thoughts; and this to give each one according to his ways, according to the fruit of his works." This verse talks about God's righteousness and how he judges each one according to his works, a theme present in Hosea 9.

Proverbs 1:31: "Therefore, they will eat the fruit of their way, and shall be bound of their own advice." This verse highlights how the choices and actions of the people of Israel have resulted in their own destruction.
