Jeremiah, 48

1. Against Moab, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Woe upon Nebo! For it has been devastated and confounded. Kiriathaim has been seized; the strong one has been confounded and has trembled.

Jeremiah 48 describes the imminent destruction of Moab by the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, because of his arrogance and wickedness against God. The verses selected below describe the divine judgment on Moab, the lamentation of their people, and God's sovereignty over all nations.

Isaiah 16:6 - "We have heard of the superb of Moab, his arrogance and pride, his insolence and his empty brave." This verse refers to Moab's arrogant attitude, which led to his conviction and punishment.

Psalm 60:8 - "Moab is my basin of washing my feet; About Edom I throw my sandal; on philistia I give my cry of victory." This verse shows how God controls nations and uses them to perform their will.

Jeremiah 48:31 - "That's why I will cry for Moab, yes, I will shout all over the Moab; for the men of quir -men I will sigh." This verse portrays the lamentation and sadness of the inhabitants of Moab before the imminent destruction of their land.
