Deutéronome, 14

1. Vous êtes les enfants de Yahweh, votre Dieu. Vous neferez point d'incision et vous ne tondrez point une place entreles yeux pour un mort.

1. "You are children of the LORD, your God. You shall not gash yourselves nor shave the hair above your foreheads for the dead.

2. Car tu es un peuple saint à Yahweh, ton Dieu; et Yahweht'a choisi pour lui être un peuple particulier entre tousles peuples qui sont sur la face de la terre.

2. For you are a people sacred to the LORD, your God, who has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people peculiarly his own.

3. Tu ne mangeras aucune chose abominable.

3. "You shall not eat any abominable thing.

4. Voici les animaux dont vous mangerez:

4. These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

5. le boeuf, la brebis et la chèvre; le cerf, la gazelle etle daim; le bouquetin, l'antilope, le boeuf sauvage et lachèvre sauvage.

5. the red deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the ibex, the addax, the oryx, and the mountain sheep.

6. Vous mangerez de tout animal qui a la corne divisée etle pied fourchu, et qui rumine.

6. Any animal that has hoofs you may eat, provided it is cloven-footed and chews the cud.

7. Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui ruminent seulement, ouqui ont seulement la corne divisée et le pied fourchu;tels sont le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin, qui ruminent,mais qui n'ont pas la corne divisée: ils seront impurspour vous;

7. But you shall not eat any of the following that only chew the cud or only have cloven hoofs: the camel, the hare and the rock badger, which indeed chew the cud, but do not have hoofs and are therefore unclean for you;

8. tel est encore le porc, qui a la corne divisée, mais quine rumine pas: il sera impur pour vous. Vous ne mangerez pas deleur chair, et vous ne toucherez pas leurs corps morts.

8. and the pig, which indeed has hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch.

9. Voici les animaux que vous mangerez parmi tous ceux qui sontdans les eaux: vous mangerez de tout ce qui a nageoires etécailles;

9. "Of the various creatures that live in the water, whatever has both fins and scales you may eat,

10. mais tout ce qui n'a pas: ce sera impur pour vous.

10. but all those that lack either fins or scales you shall not eat; they are unclean for you.

11. Vous mangerez tout oiseau pur.

11. "You may eat all clean birds.

12. Voici ceux dont vous ne mangerez pas:

12. But you shall not eat any of the following: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,

13. l'aigle, l'orfraie et le vautour; le faucon

13. the various kites and falcons,

14. le milan et toute espèce d'autours; toute

14. all the various species of crows,

15. espèce de corbeaux; l'autruche, le hibou, la mouette ettoute espèce d'éperviers;

15. the ostrich, the nightjar, the gull, the various species of hawks,

16. le chat-huant, l'ibis et la chouette;

16. the owl, the screech owl, the ibis,

17. le pélican, le cormoran et le plongeon;

17. the desert owl, the buzzard, the cormorant,

18. la cigogne et toute espèce de hérons; la

18. the stork, the various species of herons, the hoopoe, and the bat.

19. huppe et la chauve-souris. Vous regarderez comme impur toutinsecte ailé: on

19. All winged insects, too, are unclean for you and shall not be eaten.

20. n'en mangera pas. Vous mangerez tout oiseau pur.

20. But you may eat any clean winged creatures.

21. Vous ne mangerez d'aucune bête morte. Tu la donnerasà l'étranger qui est dans tes portes, pour qu'il lamange, ou tu la vendras à un étranger; car tu es unpeuple saint à Yahweh, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire unchevreau dans le lait de sa mère.

21. "You must not eat any animal that has died of itself, for you are a people sacred to the LORD, your God. But you may give it to an alien who belongs to your community, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. "You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22. Tu lèveras la dîme de tout le produit de tessemailles, de ce que ton champ rapportera chaqueannée.

22. "Each year you shall tithe all the produce that grows in the field you have sown;

23. Et tu mangeras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu'ilaura choisi pour y faire habiter ton nom, la dîme de tonblé, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, ainsi que lespremiers-nés de tes boeuf et de tes brebis, afin que tuapprennes à craindre Yahweh, ton Dieu, àjamais.

23. then in the place which the LORD, your God, chooses as the dwelling place of his name you shall eat in his presence your tithe of the grain, wine and oil, as well as the firstlings of your herd and flock, that you may learn always to fear the LORD, your God.

24. Mais si le chemin est trop long pour toi, et que tu ne puissesl'y transporter, parce que le lieu que Yahweh choisira pour yfaire habiter son nom sera trop loin de toi, lorsque Yahweh, tonDieu, t'aura béni:

24. If, however, the journey is too much for you and you are not able to bring your tithe, because the place which the LORD, your God, chooses for the abode of his name is too far for you, considering how the LORD has blessed you,

25. tu échangeras ta dîme pour de l'argent et , ayantserré l'argent dans ta main, tu iras au lieu que Yahweh,ton Dieu, aura choisi.

25. you may exchange the tithe for money and, with the purse of money in hand, go to the place which the LORD, your God, chooses.

26. Là, tu achèteras avec l'argent tout ce quedésirera ton âme, des boeufs, des brebis, du vin,des liqueurs fermentées, tout ce que demandera tonâme, et tu mangeras là devant Yahweh, ton Dieu, ettu te réjouiras, toi et ta maison.

26. You may then exchange the money for whatever you desire, oxen or sheep, wine or strong drink, or anything else you would enjoy, and there before the LORD, your God, you shall partake of it and make merry with your family.

27. Tu ne délaisseras pas le Lévite qui sera danstes portes, car il n'a ni part ni héritage avec toi.

27. But do not neglect the Levite who belongs to your community, for he has no share in the heritage with you.

28. A la fin de chaque troisième année, tu mettrasà part toute la dîme de tes produits de cetteannée-là, et tu la déposeras dans tesportes.

28. "At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithes of your produce for that year and deposit them in community stores,

29. Alors viendra le Lévite, qui n'a ni part nihéritage avec toi, ainsi que l'étranger, l'orphelinet la veuve, qui seront dans tes portes, et ils mangeront et serassasieront, afin que Yahweh, ton Dieu, te bénisse danstoutes les oeuvres que tu entreprendras de tes mains.

29. that the Levite who has no share in the heritage with you, and also the alien, the orphan and the widow who belong to your community, may come and eat their fill; so that the LORD, your God, may bless you in all that you undertake.
