Jeremiah, 2

6. And they did not say: 'Where is Yahweh who brought us out of Egypt and led us in the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, a land of drought and darkness, a land still untrodden and without inhabitants?'

Jeremiah 2 begins with the prophet rebuking the people of Israel to abandon God and follow after other gods. Psalm 106:19-21: "They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the cast image. Thus they exchanged their glory by the figure of an ox that eats herb. They forgot God, his Savior, who had done great things in Egypt. Exodus 20:3: "You will not have other gods before me." This is the first commandment given to Moses by God, which emphasizes the importance of loving and worshiping only to God, not to other gods or idols.

Hosea 2:13: "She did not acknowledge that I was the one who gave her the wheat, the new wine and the oil, and multiply the silver and the gold, which they used for Baal." This verse describes how Israel forgot that God was the source of all his material blessings, giving his prosperity to Baal, a false God.
