John, 15

16. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.

John chapter 15 contains Jesus' words about the true vine and its branches. He teaches the importance of remaining in him and his commandments to produce fruits. Moreover, he talks about the love that must exist among his disciples and that the world will hate them because of him. Below are five verses related to the topics addressed in John 15:

Philippians 4:13: "I can do everything in him who strengthens me." This verse talks about the importance of trusting God to give us strength in all situations, just as Jesus emphasizes the importance of remaining in him to bear fruit.

Colossians 1:10: "So that you may walk in dignifying before the Lord, pleasing to him in everything, fruitful in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God." Just as Jesus instructs his disciples to remain in him to bear fruit, Paul also emphasizes the importance of fruiting in good works and growing in the knowledge of God.

1 John 2:6: "He who says he remains in him must also walk as he walked." This verse highlights the importance of following the example of Jesus and walking in his ways to remain in him.

John 17:14: "I have given them thy word, and the world hated them, because they are not in the world, just as I am not in the world." Just as Jesus teaches that the world will hate his disciples because of the love that have one another, this verse highlights the separation between the followers of Christ and the world.

1 John 4:7: "Beloved, we love each other, for love is of God; and all who loves is born of God and knows God." This verse emphasizes the importance of love among the followers of Christ, just as Jesus teaches in John 15:12-13 that they must love each other as He loved them.
