Psalms, 37
1. A psalm for David, for a remembrance of the sabbath.
1. Gr. Psalm 37 (Heb. 38) ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυιδ εἰς ἀνάμνησιν περὶ σαββάτου
2. Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath.
2. κύριε μὴ τῷ θυμῷ σου ἐλέγξῃς με μηδὲ τῇ ὀργῇ σου παιδεύσῃς με
3. For thy arrows are fastened in me : and thy hand hath been strong upon me.
3. ὅτι τὰ βέλη σου ἐνεπάγησάν μοι καὶ ἐπεστήρισας ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τὴν χεῖρά σου
4. There is no health in my flesh, because of thy wrath : there is no peace for my bones, because of my sins.
4. οὐκ ἔστιν ἴασις ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς ὀργῆς σου οὐκ ἔστιν εἰρήνη τοῖς ὀστέοις μου ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν μου
5. For my iniquities are gone over my head : and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me.
5. ὅτι αἱ ἀνομίαι μου ὑπερῆραν τὴν κεφαλήν μου ὡσεὶ φορτίον βαρὺ ἐβαρύνθησαν ἐπ’ ἐμέ
6. My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness.
6. προσώζεσαν καὶ ἐσάπησαν οἱ μώλωπές μου ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς ἀφροσύνης μου
7. I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end : I walked sorrowful all the day long.
7. ἐταλαιπώρησα καὶ κατεκάμφθην ἕως τέλους ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν σκυθρωπάζων ἐπορευόμην
8. For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh.
8. ὅτι αἱ ψύαι μου ἐπλήσθησαν ἐμπαιγμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἴασις ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου
9. I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly : I roared with the groaning of my heart.
9. ἐκακώθην καὶ ἐταπεινώθην ἕως σφόδρα ὠρυόμην ἀπὸ στεναγμοῦ τῆς καρδίας μου
10. Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee.
10. κύριε ἐναντίον σου πᾶσα ἡ ἐπιθυμία μου καὶ ὁ στεναγμός μου ἀπὸ σοῦ οὐκ ἐκρύβη
11. My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me.
11. ἡ καρδία μου ἐταράχθη ἐγκατέλιπέν με ἡ ἰσχύς μου καὶ τὸ φῶς τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου καὶ αὐτὸ οὐκ ἔστιν μετ’ ἐμοῦ
12. My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off :
12. οἱ φίλοι μου καὶ οἱ πλησίον μου ἐξ ἐναντίας μου ἤγγισαν καὶ ἔστησαν καὶ οἱ ἔγγιστά μου ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔστησαν
13. And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long.
13. καὶ ἐξεβιάσαντο οἱ ζητοῦντες τὴν ψυχήν μου καὶ οἱ ζητοῦντες τὰ κακά μοι ἐλάλησαν ματαιότητας καὶ δολιότητας ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἐμελέτησαν
14. But I, as a deaf man, heard not : and as a dumb man not opening his mouth.
14. ἐγὼ δὲ ὡσεὶ κωφὸς οὐκ ἤκουον καὶ ὡσεὶ ἄλαλος οὐκ ἀνοίγων τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ
15. And I became as a man that heareth not : and that hath no reproofs in his mouth.
15. καὶ ἐγενόμην ὡσεὶ ἄνθρωπος οὐκ ἀκούων καὶ οὐκ ἔχων ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ ἐλεγμούς
16. For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped : thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God.
16. ὅτι ἐπὶ σοί κύριε ἤλπισα σὺ εἰσακούσῃ κύριε ὁ θεός μου
17. For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me : and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.
17. ὅτι εἶπα μήποτε ἐπιχαρῶσίν μοι οἱ ἐχθροί μου καὶ ἐν τῷ σαλευθῆναι πόδας μου ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐμεγαλορρημόνησαν
18. For I am ready for scourges : and my sorrow is continually before me.
18. ὅτι ἐγὼ εἰς μάστιγας ἕτοιμος καὶ ἡ ἀλγηδών μου ἐνώπιόν μου διὰ παντός
19. For I will declare my inequity : and I will think for my sin.
19. ὅτι τὴν ἀνομίαν μου ἐγὼ ἀναγγελῶ καὶ μεριμνήσω ὑπὲρ τῆς ἁμαρτίας μου
20. But my enemies live, and are stronger that I : and they hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
20. οἱ δὲ ἐχθροί μου ζῶσιν καὶ κεκραταίωνται ὑπὲρ ἐμέ καὶ ἐπληθύνθησαν οἱ μισοῦντές με ἀδίκως
21. They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness.
21. οἱ ἀνταποδιδόντες κακὰ ἀντὶ ἀγαθῶν ἐνδιέβαλλόν με ἐπεὶ κατεδίωκον δικαιοσύνην καὶ ἀπέρριψάν με τὸν ἀγαπητὸν ὡσεὶ νεκρὸν ἐβδελυγμένον
22. Forsake me not, O Lord my God : do not thou depart from me.
22. μὴ ἐγκαταλίπῃς με κύριε ὁ θεός μου μὴ ἀποστῇς ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ
23. Attend unto my help, O Lord, the God of my salvation.
23. πρόσχες εἰς τὴν βοήθειάν μου κύριε τῆς σωτηρίας μου
