1. Parole de Yahweh qui fut adressée à Jérémie, le prophète, au sujet des nations païennes.

1. This is the word of the LORD that came to the prophet Jeremiah against the nations.

2. A l'Egypte contre l'armée du Pharaon Néchao, roi d'Egypte, qui était près du fleuve de l'Euphrate, à Cartémis, et que battit Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, la quatrième année de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda.

6. Que l'homme agile ne fuie pas, Que le vaillant n'échappe pas! Au septentrion, sur les rives de l'Euphrate, Ils ont chancelé, ils sont tombés!

6. The swift cannot flee, nor the hero escape: There in the north, on the Euphrates' bank, they stumble and fall.

7. Qui est-ce qui monte, pareil au Nil, Et dont les flots bouillonnent comme les eaux?

8. C'est l'Egypte qui monte, pareille au Nil, Et dont les flots bouillonnent comme les eaux. Elle a dit: Je monterai, je couvrirai la terre, .Je détruirai les villes et leurs habitants.

13. La parole qu'adressa Yahweh à Jérémie, le prophète sur la venue de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, pour frapper le pays d'Egypte.

23. They cut down her forest, says the LORD, impenetrable though it be; More numerous than locusts, they cannot be counted.

27. But you, my servant Jacob, fear not; be not dismayed, O Israel. Behold, I will deliver you from the far-off land, your descendants, from their land of exile. Jacob shall again find rest, shall be tranquil and undisturbed.

28. Toi, ne crains pas, Jacob, mon serviteur, dit Yahweh, Car je suis avec toi; Je détruirai toutes les nations parmi lesquelles je t'ai dispersé, Mais toi, je ne te détruirai pas;- Je te châtierai selon la justice, Et je ne te laisserai pas impuni.

28. You, my servant Jacob, never fear, says the LORD, for I am with you; I will make an end of all the nations to which I have driven you, But of you I will not make an end: I will chastise you as you deserve, I will not let you go unpunished.
