Zephaniah, 1

13. Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit [them]; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

Chapter 1 of Sophonies begins with the prophecy of destruction that will come upon Judah and Jerusalem due to its idolatry and injustice. God Himself will punish them for their disobedience. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in sophonies 1:

Jeremiah 25:34: "UIVAI, shepherds, and cry; and revolve into the gray, leaders of the flock; for your days have already been fulfilled to be dead; and I will disperse, and fall as a desirable vessel." This verse shows that God's judgment is imminent and inevitable, and no one will escape him.
