Deuteronomy, 26

1. And when thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess, and hast conquered it, and dwellest in it:

1. Quando arriverai alla terra che il Signore tuo Dio ti dona in eredità, quando l'avrai conquistata e vi abiterai,

2. Thou shalt take the first of all thy fruits, and put then? in a basket, and shalt go to the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, that his name may be invocated there:

2. prenderai le primizie di tutti i frutti del suolo che avrai ricavato dalla terra che il Signore tuo Dio ti dona, le metterai in un cesto e ti recherai al luogo che il Signore tuo Dio sceglierà per farvi dimorare il suo nome.

3. And thou shalt go to the priest that shall be in those days, and say to him: I profess this day before the Lord thy God, that I am come into the land, for which he swore to our fathers, that he would give it us.

3. Andrai dal sacerdote che sarà in funzione in quei giorni e gli dirai: "Dichiaro oggi al Signore mio Dio di essere arrivato alla terra che il Signore ha giurato ai nostri padri di darci".

4. And the priest taking the basket at thy hand, shall set it before the altar of the Lord thy God:

4. Il sacerdote prenderà il cesto dalla tua mano e lo deporrà davanti all'altare del Signore tuo Dio;

5. And thou shalt speak thus in the sight of the Lord thy God: The Syrian pursued my father, who went down into Egypt, and sojourned there in a very small number, and grew into a nation great and strong and of an infinite multitude.

5. allora pronuncerai queste parole al cospetto del Signore tuo Dio: "Mio padre era un arameo errante, discese in Egitto, vi abitò da forestiero con poca gente e vi divenne una nazione grande, forte e numerosa.

6. And the Egyptians afflicted us, and persecuted us, laying on us most grievous burdens :

6. Gli Egiziani ci maltrattarono, ci oppressero, ci imposero una dura schiavitù.

7. And we cried to the Lord God of our fathers: who heard us, and looked down upon our af

7. Allora gridammo al Signore Dio dei nostri padri, ed egli ascoltò la nostra voce, vide la nostra miseria e la nostra oppressione

8. And brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand, and a stretched out arm, with great terror, with signs and wonders:

8. e ci fece uscire dall'Egitto con mano forte, con braccio teso, con terrore grande, con segni e prodigi;

9. And brought us into this place, and gave us this land flowing with milk and honey.

9. ci condusse in questo luogo e ci diede questa terra, dove scorre latte e miele.

10. And therefore now I offer the firstfruits of the land which the Lord hath given me. And thou shalt leave them in the sight of the ford thy God, adoring the Lord thy God.

10. Ora, ecco, ho portato le primizie dei frutti del suolo che tu, Signore, mi hai concesso". Le deporrai al cospetto del Signore tuo Dio e ti prostrerai al cospetto del Signore tuo Dio.

11. And thou shalt feast in all the good things which the Lord thy God hath given thee, and thy house, thou and the Levite, and the stranger that is with thee.

11. E per tutto il bene che il Signore tuo Dio ha donato a te e alla tua casa, gioirai tu, il levita e il forestiero che si trova in mezzo a te.

12. When thou hast made an end of tithing all thy fruits, in the third year of tithes thou shalt give it to the Levite, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled:

12. Il terzo anno, l'anno della decima, quando avrai terminato di offrire tutta la decima dei tuoi prodotti e l'avrai data al levita, al forestiero, all'orfano e alla vedova, ed essi l'avranno mangiata nella tua città e se ne saranno saziati,

13. And thou shalt speak thus in the sight of the Lord thy God: I have taken that which was sanctified out of my house, and I have given it to the Levite, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, as thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments nor forgotten thy precepts.

13. allora dirai al cospetto del Signore tuo Dio: "Ho tolto ciò ch'è sacro dalla mia casa, e ne ho dato al levita, al forestiero, all'orfano e alla vedova, secondo tutti i precetti che mi hai ordinato; non ho trasgredito nessuno dei tuoi precetti e non li ho dimenticati.

14. I have not eaten of them is my mourning, nor separated them for any uncleanness, nor spent any thing of them in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and have done all things as thou hast commanded me.

14. Non ne ho mangiato nel mio lutto, non ne ho consumato in stato impuro, non ne ho dato a un morto. Ho ascoltato la voce del Signore mio Dio, ho agito secondo quanto mi hai ordinato.

15. Look from thy sanctuary, and thy high habitation of heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou didst swear to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

15. Affàcciati dalla tua santa dimora, dal cielo, benedici il tuo popolo Israele e il suolo che ci hai donato, come avevi giurato ai nostri padri, terra dove scorre latte e miele".

16. This day the Lord thy God hath commanded thee to do these commandments and judgments: and to keep and fulfil them with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

16. Oggi il Signore tuo Dio ti comanda di mettere in pratica questi ordini e decreti: osservali e mettili in pratica con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta la tua anima.

17. Thou hast chosen the Lord this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways and keep his ceremonies, and precepts, end judgments, and obey his command.

17. Oggi hai ottenuto che il Signore dichiarasse di essere il tuo Dio, se tu cammini per le sue vie, osservi i suoi comandamenti, precetti e decreti, e ascolti la sua voce;

18. And the Lord hath chosen thee this day, to be his peculiar people, as he hath spoken to thee, and to keep all his commandments:

18. e il Signore oggi ti ha fatto dichiarare di essere un popolo di sua proprietà, come ti ha detto, osservando tutti i suoi precetti;

19. And to make thee higher than all nations which he hath created, to his own praise, and name, and glory: that thou mayst be a holy people of the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken.

19. perché ti renda superiore a tutte le nazioni che ha fatto per lode, fama e gloria e tu sia un popolo santo al Signore tuo Dio, come egli ha detto".
