22. So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, [and] because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

They choose their own ways, and pleasure in their abominations; so I will also choose what afflicts them, and bring upon them what they feared so much. 2 Chronicles 36:16-17: "But they moved from the messengers of God, despised their words and ridiculed their prophets, until the wrath of the Lord lit against his people and there was no remedy. So he brought Against them the king of the Babylonians, who killed his young people to the sword in his sanctuary home and spared neither young people, nor women, nor the elderly, nor the sick; He handed over to the hands of his enemy.
