Prophetia Ezechielis, 29

1. In anno decimo, in decimo mense, duodecima mensis, factum est verbum Domini ad me dicens:

1. In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:

2. “Fili hominis, pone faciem tuam contra pharaonem, regem Aegypti, et prophetabis de eo et de Aegypto universa.

2. "Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt;

3. Loquere et dices: Haec dicit Dominus Deus: Ecce ego ad te, pharao, rex Aegypti, draco magne, qui cubas in medio fluminum tuorum et dicis: “Meus est fluvius, et ego feci memetipsum!”.

3. speak, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of his streams, that says, `My Nile is my own; I made it.'

4. Et ponam uncos in maxillis tuis et agglutinabo pisces fluminum tuorum squamis tuis et extraham te de medio fluminum tuorum, et universi pisces tui squamis tuis adhaerebunt.

4. I will put hooks in your jaws, and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales; and I will draw you up out of the midst of your streams, with all the fish of your streams which stick to your scales.

5. Et proiciam te in desertum et omnes pisces fluminum tuorum. Super faciem terrae cades; non colligeris neque congregaberis. Bestiis terrae et volatilibus caeli dedi te ad devorandum.

5. And I will cast you forth into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your streams; you shall fall upon the open field, and not be gathered and buried. To the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the air I have given you as food.

6. Et scient omnes habitatores Aegypti quia ego Dominus, pro eo quod fuisti baculus arundineus domui Israel:

6. "Then all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD. Because you have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel;

7. quando apprehenderunt te manu, confractus es et lacerasti omnem umerum eorum et, innitentibus eis super te, comminutus es et dissolvisti omnes lumbos eorum.

7. when they grasped you with the hand, you broke, and tore all their shoulders; and when they leaned upon you, you broke, and made all their loins to shake;

8. Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus: Ecce ego adducam super te gladium et interficiam de te hominem et iumentum;

8. therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast;

9. et erit terra Aegypti in desertum et solitudinem, et scient quia ego Dominus. Pro eo quod dixeris: “Fluvius meus est, et ego feci!”,

9. and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am the LORD. "Because you said, `The Nile is mine, and I made it,'

10. idcirco ecce ego ad te et ad flumina tua, daboque terram Aegypti in solitudines, gladio dissipatam a Magdolo ad Syenen et usque ad terminos Chus.

10. therefore, behold, I am against you, and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Ethiopia.

11. Non pertransibit eam pes hominis, neque pes iumenti gradietur in ea, et non habitabitur quadraginta annis;

11. No foot of man shall pass through it, and no foot of beast shall pass through it; it shall be uninhabited forty years.

12. daboque terram Aegypti desertam in medio terrarum desertarum, et civitates eius in medio urbium subversarum erunt desolatae quadraginta annis, et dispergam Aegyptios in nationes et ventilabo eos in terras.

12. And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated countries; and her cities shall be a desolation forty years among cities that are laid waste. I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among the countries.

13. Quia haec dicit Dominus Deus: Post finem quadraginta annorum congregabo Aegyptios de populis, in quibus dispersi fuerunt,

13. "For thus says the Lord GOD: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered;

14. et convertam sortem Aegypti et collocabo eos in terra Phatures, in terra nativitatis suae; et erunt ibi in regnum humile.

14. and I will restore the fortunes of Egypt, and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin; and there they shall be a lowly kingdom.

15. Inter regna cetera erit humillima et non elevabitur ultra super nationes, et imminuam eos, ne imperent gentibus.

15. It shall be the most lowly of the kingdoms, and never again exalt itself above the nations; and I will make them so small that they will never again rule over the nations.

16. Neque erunt ultra domui Israel in confidentiam, in memoriam revocans iniquitatem, cum sequerentur eos, et scient quia ego Dominus Deus”.

16. And it shall never again be the reliance of the house of Israel, recalling their iniquity, when they turn to them for aid. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD."

17. Et factum est in vicesimo et septimo anno, in primo, in una mensis, factum est verbum Domini ad me dicens:

17. In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:

18. “Fili hominis, Nabuchodonosor, rex Babylonis, servire fecit exercitum suum servitute magna adversus Tyrum; omne caput decalvatum et omnis umerus attritus est, et merces non est reddita ei neque exercitui eius de Tyro pro servitute, qua servivit adversum eam.

18. "Son of man, Nebuchadrez'zar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre; every head was made bald and every shoulder was rubbed bare; yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against it.

19. Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus: Ecce ego dabo Nabuchodonosor, regi Babylonis, terram Aegypti, et accipiet opes eius et depraedabitur manubias eius et diripiet spolia eius, et erit merces exercitui illius,

19. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadrez'zar king of Babylon; and he shall carry off its wealth and despoil it and plunder it; and it shall be the wages for his army.

20. ut stipendium eius, pro quo servivit adversum eam. Dedi ei terram Aegypti pro eo quod laboraverunt mihi, ait Dominus Deus.

20. I have given him the land of Egypt as his recompense for which he labored, because they worked for me, says the Lord GOD.

21. In die illo germinare faciam cornu domui Israel, et tibi dabo apertum os in medio eorum, et scient quoniam ego Dominus”.

21. "On that day I will cause a horn to spring forth to the house of Israel, and I will open your lips among them. Then they will know that I am the LORD."

29:1-2 - Viene annunciato il giudizio di Dio sull'Egitto, con la visione di una nazione orgogliosa e umiliata. L'Egitto, che si considerava autosufficiente, vedrà la sua caduta, dimostrando che ogni fiducia nella forza umana è vana di fronte alla potenza di Dio (vedi anche Isaia 19:1 e Geremia 46:25).

29:3-5 - Dio dichiara che il Faraone, re d'Egitto, sarà sconfitto e gettato nel deserto, a simboleggiare la perdita di potere e influenza. La metafora del coccodrillo nell'acqua simboleggia il Faraone e la caduta della sua nazione, dimostrando la fragilità degli imperi umani agli occhi di Dio (vedi anche Isaia 37:29 ed Ezechiele 32:3).

29:6-9 - L'Egitto sarà abbandonato e le sue città saranno desolate, come una nazione non più onorata. Questo rivela la giustizia di Dio contro le nazioni che si ribellano a Lui, e la desolazione è un riflesso della partenza di Dio (vedi anche Geremia 46:11 ed Ezechiele 30:4).

29:10-12 - La terra d'Egitto rimarrà desolata per 40 anni e le nazioni circostanti saranno scosse dalla sua caduta. Disperdere le nazioni che traggono piacere dalla guerra." - Questo versetto è spesso interpretato come un riferimento all'Egitto (la bestia selvaggia tra le canne), riecheggiando il giudizio contro l'Egitto in Ezechiele 29.

Isaia 30:2-3: "che scendono in Egitto senza consultarmi; che cercano la protezione del faraone, cercano rifugio all'ombra dell'Egitto.
