Jeremiah, 44

17. Rather will we continue doing what we had proposed; we will burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out libations to her, as we and our fathers, our kings and princes have done in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. Then we had enough food to eat and we were well off; we suffered no misfortune.

In Jeremiah 44, God condemns the people of Judah for their continuous disobedience and for persisting to worship foreign gods. You will not even worship them, for I, the Lord, your God, I am a zealous God, who punishes the iniquity of parents in their children until the third and fourth generation of those who despise me. " This verse emphasizes the importance of God's exclusive worship and how idolatry is a serious sin.

Isaiah 66:3-4: "He who sacrifices oxen is like who kills a person; who offers sheep is like who breaks the neck of a dog; who presents cereal offers is like who offers pig blood; who burns incense is like who He loves an idol. They choose their own ways, and pleasure in their abominations; so I will also choose what afflicts them, and bring upon them what they feared so much. This disobedience resulted in the wrath of God and its consequent punishment, which manifested itself through the Babylonian invasion and the massacre of the people.
